Under hood body snap removal?

Is there a way to remove the black body snaps holding the sound deadening (I assume) material to the bottom of the hood? I took a baseball dent to the hood I'd like to try to pop back.

They're pretty hard to remove without breaking them. Although, they're not too expensive to replace. I had to replace mine when I had my hood painted, and if I remember correctly, they were about $15 for all the clips from the dealer. Good luck.

BTW, it's a heat shield

sub'd...I need to do this too as I have 2 little dents on the hood that have been there since the week I bought it! I tried pushing up on one with the heat shield still on and poked a little finger size hole in the shield!

DISASSEMBLY

HINT: A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE

Remove the 2 bolts and auxiliary catch release lever.
Remove the bolt and hood auxiliary catch hook.
Remove the 10 nuts and radiator grille.

REMOVE HOOD INSULATOR

Using a clip remover, remove the 11 clips and hood insulator.


I think the OEM part number for the clips is #90467-A0003.
