Thank you for your advice. The red patches Im referring to is all the stuff that's on the exhaust. So now I have
more questions lol
1. how do I do to preventative stuff?
2. What do I need, and where do I apply them and how?
3.Do I do the preventative on both frame+ exhaust?
4. Also, where's the radiator crossmember?
5. You also mentioned some leakage on the front drive shaft, can you list out some potential issues underlying it? Much appreciated
Yes the red spots on the exhuast is rust.
As I mentioned in my last post there's nothing you need to do with the rust on the exhaust, unless you want to use a wire brush drill
attachment and just clean it up to remove what rust you see but it will most likely look much the same as it does now in a year or so,
there's nothing you can put on it that want burn off to keep the rust from coming back except maybe a very high temperature paint
made for exhuast systems after cleaning all the rust off, but you will have most likely have to paint it again every year or two IMHO.
The radiator crossmember is just behind the front bumper and underneath the radiator, you will have to remove the fornt skid plate to
see all of it, but you can see the sides of it with the metal loops/recovery points for tying the vehicle down or to pull it if it get stuck,
wheere thes 2 loop are is usually where the rust would start on most T4Rs that have serious rust issues.
On the rust preventative just follow the directions that come with it, and do any and all parts of the frame you can access, there's also
some product made for doing inside of the frame members and should have directions as well.
Others will have to recommend any such products as I don't live in an area that has salt put on the roads and thus my frame is in good
condition and I have never had to worry about it rusting, so unless I see it starting to rust I won't be doing any preventative measures
on mine.
The fluid on your driveshaft looks to be the front driveshaft and I have a 2WD so I can't say for sure where the leak maybe coing from,
could be from a valve cover, possibly the master cylinder, or???
Others with a 4WD maybe able to help you with other possible sources of where the leak maybe coming from.
