Well, something kind of amazing happened last week, which ended in me getting the Holy Grail of 1st gen Tacomas for a crazy price.

I was browsing through Facebook marketplace looking for parts for another project we're working on when the listing popped up. Worst picture, description and title ever. Just said 2002 Tacoma TRD - 3500$. In the picture you could only see the front clip and top of the roof poking out from behind another truck.

But, you could just barely see the opening for the back doors. I saw the listing 3 minutes after it came up. I was still the 4th person to message them... Fast forward a few days and im waking up a bit groggy eyed and I get a message back, they give me a phone number, first 5 people to respond got the message. I called immediately and luckily had cash in hand. Rushed off an hour away with no plan of how to even get it home. I beat the other 4 people. The seller said at that point, over 500 messages were sent on it.

So that's how I won the Toyota lottery, and ended up with a truck I never knew I wanted. Here's the rundown.

2002 Tacoma Double Cab in Millennium Silver
3.4, Auto of Course. 4x4, with an Elocker.
TRD and Limited packages.
Every option except the leather and sunroof.
251k on the clock, runs absolutely flawlessly.
Completely bone stock apart from the bed. Cover and Nerf bars.
Full maintenance history to boot. Tons of new OEM parts in the last 2 years.

I feel like I won the freaking lottery. This truck is truly amazing. I had more than I paid for this into my single cab beater.

First mod in the books today. Found this set of retrofits for sale locally. All morimoto XB parts. I think they're Mini-D2S. Decent setup overall.

Thinking I may order a base model painted grille and corners.

Here in the PNW you'd be hard pressed to find one under 10k. I don't know if I'll ever get a deal quite this good ever again.

More mods for the Taco. A couple hand-me-downs. The Slag Factory mounts from the hoopty single cab and a fresh 30$ eBay light bar. Also the Yakima QTower setup from my daily. Starting to look not so stock at this point. [emoji108]

Got this K&N FIPK setup I've had laying around forever put in with a new Vibrant dry filter. Sounds pretty cool at high RPM. We all know that's all they're really good for.

Also picked up 2 different sets of Duratracs for the Taco soon. They're 315/70R17. Ended up with 6 decent ones, one pretty thin one and a ruined one for a hair over 300$. Not bad. Should last me quite a while.

Grand total of 85$ said and done.

This wasn't even supposed to be a budget build but it's shaping up to be one lol.

Finally got my Rhino Rack mesh platform in to top off my rack setup, nice and low profile, only about 4 inches above the roof overall.

Also found this Wilco hitch mounted tire carrier for sale locally for 200$. Plan is to hack the hitch part off and mount it up as a bumper, maybe build some more armor for the sides off of it, but it will fill the section under the tailgate pretty well without any modifications.

Feels like it's been forever since I posted in this even though it was like 2 months. She looks way different than even a month ago. She rocked the purple FJ rims with duratracs for a while and I ended up swapping em out.

It's lifted with the 5100's, sits level with the AAL's out back from the previous owners. Currently rocking 317/70R17 Cooper STT Pros on 17x9 rock crushers. Got the clear corner lights and polished toolbox and polished everything all up. Looks great.

I also installed a nice headunit and paranoid Fab switch panel with some eBay switches.

Lots more in the works.

Decided to go ahead and bolt these super nice parts onto this old worn out truck. Got to say that I've had it 3000 miles now, and it's really good. Zero issues to report.

She got the legit Sparco Fighter seats I've had laying around for a year now, Sparco actually makes Tacoma brackets, who would've thought. They're really cush and surprised by how comfortable they are for a fixed back bucket seat. Went on a 4 hour road trip and my back was fine.

She also got a steering wheel setup, legit Nardi Classic, the smallest one, NRG Lexus hub and 2.0 Quick Release and a Checkerd Sports horn delete. Looks minty.

Finished up all the little detail work on the rear bumper today. Welded up some braces to the hitch crossmember out towards the sides to strengthen everything up. Also finished playing in the front where o hacked into the stock hitch and added a little flush mount led for the license plate light.

Grand total of 200$ and a few hours of work. Not bad.

Shocks got back from accutune today. Great company to work with, highly recommend. Wasted no time in getting the new 600lb eibachs installed (the 700lb kings weren't gonna cut it with my marshmallow ass). Assembly took 30 mins, not bad compared to the 3-4 hours it took to disassemble lol. Got a few more things to figure out before I can go ahead and refresh the entire front suspension.
