Uneven Bumper?

OK so I just noticed this today. My front bumper doesn't appear to be sitting flush with the grill and the part underneath the headlight housing.

I can easily fit my fingers in the space between the plastic part on the top of the bumper and the body, underneath the lights.

See what I'm talking about? Is this normal, do other people with the '99+ "fat lip" bumpers have this much space? The reason I'm thinking this isn't normal is because on the same spot on the other side of the bumper, underneath the driver's side headlights, there isn't the same amount of space. I can't fit my fingers in between the top of the bumper and the body.

Sorry if this was confusing but I'm hoping someone knows what I'm talking about and can tell me whether or not this is normal and if I should look into getting my bumper realigned so it hugs closer to the body.

It's hard to tell with pics that close. It may be normal. Mine has a pretty big gap....

Yeah I know the pics are really shitty and it's hard to tell what I'm talking about. I'll try to get some better quality pics up later. I'll also check out the bumpers of other 4Runners that I see driving around school here and see if they're the same.

I can't tell how much of a gap you have, but I do know that there is supposed to be a gap. A gap is left so that the bumper doesn't hit anything while the suspension is flexed. Hope this helps.

I think it's just a large gap in general. I'm on my third front bumper (thanks to hitting a chain and a deer) and the gap has always been that big. I try not to notice, but sometimes I can't help but see that the little metal plates beneath each headlight on my 4Runner aren't straight, and I can't figure out how to adjust them

Ok, thanks for the pics guys. Yeah I knew there was supposed to be a gap but I guess I just feel like mine is bigger than it's supposed to be. Oh well, not really a problem, just annoying to someone who's OCD like me.

Yeah it's probably nothing, I have the same exact thing with my 99.

It's only really noticeable if you really stare or run your fingers through, nothing that really bothers me though.
