So I've searched the forums and have similar issues, but I haven't found one that fits my exact situation.
Twice in the past few weeks, I've had to throw down the brakes pretty hard, one time enough to lock the tires up for a split second and engage the ABS. In both cases, immediately after I encountered pretty severe steering vibration/wobble. It occurred throughout the speedo, but got much much worse starting around 60mph (didn't go above 65 so I don't know if it died down above that). It also had some very noticeable vibrations on braking as well, particularly on medium-pressure.
However, in both cases I got to my destination and let the truck cool down for a while (15 min first time, about 2.5 hrs second time). When I came back, everything drove perfectly smooth as if nothing had ever happened.
Tire wear looks normal, brake rotors look clean (although they aren't new by any means). I haven't taken off a wheel yet to look at the pistons/calipers, but a recent trip for a routine checkup/oil change showed healthy levels of pad left.
Has anyone experienced this interesting combo of issues?
Thanks.
PS - 2005 4x4 V8 Limited, if that makes any difference.
