Unlock all doors function?

I love the smart key. I love being able to walk up to the driver's side door and just open the handle to unlock the car. However, it is a pain that the passenger side door doesn't open and I always have to get in and press the door unlock button to let my wife in the car. She always tries to get in while the door is still locked. Can I customize this feature so that when the driver's door unlocks, all doors unlock? I didn't see anything in the manual to do this.

Toyota is trying to send you a message :bluejump:

I want to unlock with no pushes. I want to pull the handle and all doors unlock without even using the key.

Unless I'm not understanding what you're asking, if you just want to walk up and open the driver's door and have all others unlock, the Smart Key allows that when you program it as above.

Oh, I read that as you press the button once and all doors unlock. I mean I keep the key in my pocket, walk up to the door, open the handle, and instead of my door opening, all doors unlock. I'll give that process a try though and see if it works.

Harper7 posted a video of this somwhere and it works because I've done it but I'm too lazy to look for it.

All you have to do is press and hold all 3 buttons of the smartkey while sitting inside your car. You will hear a chime from your vehicle after about 5 seconds. This should allow you to unlock all the doors simultaneously by placing your hand on the driver and/or shotgun side door handle. hope this helps.

Thanks that worked. Just make sure the car is off and it works like a charm.

Worked like a champ on my 2011 Limited, thanks!!

I can't wait to get home and try this. It has been driving me crazy with the car seats in the back when I load the youngest one first I always have to remember to use the smart key itself to open the door and I never remember.

nice

amazing this was a topic with the family last night! glad that option is there. The manual is huge and havent tried to red it yet.

I love this forum, especially when you pick up great hints like this, great now all my doors open at once.:trophy:

Now if i could just disable my selt belt alarm so i dont ahve to hear that annoying chime when I'm not buckled!

I only do it for short trips around the corner, and yes i know that's where 80% of accidents happen....

I did the whole old school sequence thing and couldn't get it to work with my standard key. I have a feeling that a similar sequence will work, but this one is probably old:

The vehicle should meet the following conditions before proceeding; *The key is NOT in the ignition *Driver’s door is OPEN (The others are CLOSED) *Drivers door UNLOCKED (Not necessary for Echo)
1) INSERT and REMOVE the key from the ignition cylinder, TWICE within 5 seconds
2) CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds
3) INSERT and REMOVE the key into the ignition cylinder
4) CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds
5) INSERT the key in the ignition and CLOSE the driver’s door
6) Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK at approx. 1 sec. Intervals “ 2” times to enter REWRITE MODE
7) REMOVE the key from the ignition (The door locks are cycled LOCK-UNLOCK within 3 seconds TWICE to let you know that you have selected REWRITE MODE)
8) Within 40 seconds press BOTH the LOCK & UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1 second (Press and release).
9) Within 3 seconds press and release the LOCK button on the same transmitter (The door locks will cycle ONCE if the transmitter was recognized and TWICE if it was not recognized {if you get two cycles start over}).
10) Within 40 seconds repeat step 8 and 9 with any other transmitters you wish to program
11) One of the following will END the Rewrite mode; *40 seconds elapses *Drivers door is opened *Key inserted into the ignition cylinder *4 transmitters are registered

When I was at the dealer purchasing the car, I walked up to the car with the sales guy and my wife. The sales guy reached into his pocket for the key, but he didn't have it.

He said , "You didn't see me do this."

Then he quickly tugged on the handle in a little pattern and the DOOR UNLOCKED. Then he said again, "You didn't see me do that. Check out the car and I will be back with the key."

The dealer wanted to charge me $45 to have the fob reprogrammed and to turn off the seatbelt chime.

I have gone through that sequence a few times, and even an alternate one. I got the thing to beep a couple times but then I lose it because I am mid sequence and I do something to cancel it before I can stop.

I am sure my neighbors think I am sniffing glue.
