i was going to replace my entire exhaust till i discovered my frame rotting apart. if you say its made of stainless it should be 100% SS. exhaust companies may use 409 but its still SS...the more i read about DT the reviews keep getting worse

I take it you have air injection tubes? call them and reference the issue here and ask them nicely to explain what is up. Ask them what they will do when their mild steel rusts. If it is unused they may be legally obligated to accept a return. If they agree to cover the air injection tubes get it in writing/ email. IDK about Illinois but in this case i don't believe you would have to inform them that you were recording them on a phone call in california. 1 party consent if you suspect them of committing a crime, like fraud, in cali.

since they're off you may be able to get the tubes coated to at least save your own ass.

thats what i was thinking, get them coated and see if i can have them reimburse me or something. i dont want to go the oem route because of the cost and the fact that they will fail again. id honestly be ok if they took them back, made the aip tubes out of stainless and sent them back. hell im sure we all would like that. but at this point, yea, i think i will call or email. either way i WILL be keeping record....

I will have a fabricator jig up my DT long tubes in full 304 stainless. Flanges, air tubes, the works. All tig welded. Working on price. If anyone else is interested in a set let me know.

Will have my personal set ceramic coated in 2000 deg satin grey ice through and through. The coating is pricey so I will leave it up to the folks interested to decide if they want to pursue that as well. These will outlast the vehicle. Pay once. Install once. Done.

Where is the write up? Searched your posts and couldn't find it.

Why wait? You have an ‘03, so this really has no relevance for you, other than maybe the flanges will discolor and rust after several years. They are 3/8” thick though, so will still outlast your truck. If this is out of principle, then I understand, but for us ‘03-‘04 guys, it’s still a decent (and the ONLY) option out there. Besides, if this ends up going the legal route, they may pull the products entirely and you won’t have ANY options... Not only that, but you live in AZ where rust isn’t even an issue. I doubt even the air tubes would rust, but even if they did, would probably last 20 years anyway.

Yes. We asked for these. I was one of the original ones that called years ago and said I wanted a set. This is the only case I've ever heard of this, happened to one person who still refuses to say where they live. I scanned around and there are hundreds of posts on these going years back with not one issue like this with the tube.

Just don't be unnecessarily hostile or others might not ever get their prefabbed snorkels or whatever.

ARB doesn't have the greatest reputation for 4th gens anyway. their bumper could easily include side protection for the wiring/washer bottle but they refuse to re-release that bumper, or make an ungodly overpriced add-on, which is more their style anyway... $500 LED trail lights? HA! good one.

What I'm saying is the way this community reacts will determine future support from this and other vendors. But if the vendor sucks, watch 'em sink!

Yes I've seen this happen before. No one really likes or wants to try to make stuff for these trucks since they are older and the production numbers are low. Soon there might no be anything let for our trucks! There is no way in hell I'd ever buy stock manifolds again. If y'all are worried just polish the top of that tube every 6 months. I couldn't pay a shop to copy these for even anywhere near this price. They are mandrel bent too with tri y design and I think Thorley has a trademark on their specific headers….maybe think about changing the design to avoid lawyers.

Flanges will be made large enough to occlude the recirc holes. Folks will need to purchase a secondary air injection bypass kit. Either through slyfox, or Hewitt technologies.

Looks like your fab guy could make it worth his while to build the jigs if it was for more than just a one off for you, as evidenced by the interest shown since you mentioned it. You may want to start a separate thread to gather interest if your guy is willing to do several sets. That could get a price break for everyone, including yourself (if he’s amenable to do this). There is no way I’d run those air tubes at all, even if they were stainless, especially since that pump has a proven failure record anyway.

Just bought my V8 T4R last month and was planning to get the Doug Thorley headers by end of year or before then if the stock ones failed, but not anymore.

I will not do business with this company for 2 reasons:
1) They misrepresent their product
2) They are not honoring the warranty

Those two things are true, regardless of where anyone lives or how often they clean their truck. I feel sorry for the folks that already bought these. From what I can tell, there IS room for legal action. Good luck and I hope you are made whole.
