**UPDATE** - DT has made right - Buyer Beware - Doug Thorley Headers

I will have my fabricator jig up the DT long tubes I have on the shelf in full 304 stainless. Flanges, air tubes, the works. All tig welded. Working on price. If anyone else is interested in a set let me know.

The reason? I can’t stand people that cut corners. So... going to do this the right way. Won’t be cheap. Will make one run and that’s it.

Ceramic coated mild steel is still a piece of shit. Just shiny... for a little while.

Will have my personal set ceramic coated in 2000 deg satin grey ice through and through. The coating is pricey so I will leave it up to the folks interested to decide if they want to pursue that as well. These will outlast the vehicle. Pay once. Install once. Done.

I’m interested depending on final cost, keep us in the loop.

Has anyone heard from Jason or DT on this matter? I have a set of long tube that now I’m hesitant to install.

Thanks! Will do. Going to try keep costs down given that a lot of these guys are out the DT headers and install. Might forgo the air tubes all together to do so. Flanges will be made large enough to occlude the recirc holes. Folks will need to purchase a secondary air injection bypass kit. Either through slyfox, or Hewitt technologies.

+1. was going to pull the trigger on a full exhaust replacement. already have SAIS bypassed.

I kept seeing this thread popping up in the 4th gen section, but I never really cared to check it out, now I'm glad I did.

This has been an absolute hoot to read, I have an '04 so the SAIS isn't a concern, and my OEM Manifolds are fine.

just curious, the Manifolds Crack, you remove them, why couldn't you just Re-Weld them? (Yes I know they are a pain to remove, I worked for a Toyota Dealer and did SAIS and Headers on Tundras and such)

that could be a really cheap alternative to Headers or Manifolds... buttttt that's the Macgyver in me. Maybe you could even weld them in place in some cases.

Also, I love the Signature "DT Rust Tube Headers"

It would still be $500 to $1000 in labor to unbolt/reinstall them hoping they would work for a while longer. Plus the cost of paying a welder. And hoping it doesn't crack in some other spot, though I'm not entirely sure where they crack to begin with.

Keep me in the loop as well. I don't have the DT headers but couldn't hurt to snag yours up since I was thinking about getting the DT headers soon. This way it'll be done right and I'll sell the cheap ones from them

It kind of bugs me that Jason B. hasn’t even commented on this because he generally pops into every thread talking about headers, exhaust, etc so people will know he sells that stuff (if they didn’t already). That is fine, but it would be nice to hear what he has to say about all of this, and if he plans to pressure them to respond in some way to help those affected, or at the very least change the tube material so this doesn’t affect new purchasers.

I worked 69 HOURS this week and don't have every sec available to post on here but you'll be happy to know my air tube looks great. I was off the other day and I will get a pic when I can to give people that have these installed some peace. I think this is a non issue that happened to one person that's blown out of proportion. The other guy on here that's had for 4 years I think he said should post also. I've just been busy and I apologize

Bad press doesn't sell a product that he promotes. Sad to see that he or DT aren't willing to stand behind the product and step up to make things right. I feel fortunate enough that I live in a place that I don't have to worry about corrosion and rust, otherwise I would be just as heated.

Could these be Jet Hot coated to preserve them?
Some of them look pretty far gone, probably too bad to bother with.
But if anyone has a set that they have not installed yet it might be something to look into.

I understand your prospective of it being a “non issue” because it doesn’t directly affect you, but the main issue here for most is that they are advertised as being all stainless when they are not. For some it will never matter depending on climate or location, but for those living in the rust belt, it’s definitely something to worry about, or at least know going in the door so you can make an informed purchase. DT should also clearly state that their warranty only covers the coating and not the base materials as it is misleading the way they advertise that as well. I have no dog in this fight as my headers don’t have the air tubes, but I’m still bothered by false advertising as well as concerned for those on here affected by it! I take very good care of my truck and run it through the car wash almost daily during the winter to prevent additional corrosion and my DT headers still had the logo plates rust off! How do you explain that?

Hey Barfy or what ever it is no one is skeered.some of have to work for a living I just got off a 96 hour stretch and didnt have time for the childrens playground. Looking through your older post it appears your from the Toronto area why not admit it your are also deceiving. Yes it does matter because the area is notorious for eating cars away regardless off make and model. 4 years 70,000 miles 4 Colorado winters in the mountains numerous trips to Moab no problems. I have no affiliation with Thorley other than being a customer, who values family owned american hand made quality products .you need to take better care of your ride, Toyota has had a few recalls for rust and frame replacement maybe you should ditch it and cry to Toyota also.

Despite the grammar, I’ve made it through your (notice the correct your?) post. I’ve repeatedly stated that the roads where I live are salted in the winter. And that’s what you’re (see, now ‘you’re’) trying to ‘prove’ by learning where I live correct? Now what deception are we speaking of?

I’ve purchased a stainless steel product that is not stainless steel. I’m really glad your headers appear to be holding up, regardless of my skepticism of this image. That fact that my headers look completely fine while the air tubes do not actually proves that it has nothing to do with my ability to care for a vehicle. I know that is tough for you to understand. But, you’ll get there one day.

In any event, I wish you a lifetime of failing products that you’ve spent what ever dollars you’ve managed to wrangle during your gruelling 96hr stretch on. Then, maybe, you’ll have a sense of the feeling. Until then, keep trying to go all in for DT headers. I promise you, I will not be the last person to experience this issue.
