Updates. still not running

Ok for those who dont remember. I bought an 89 runner with a bad motor. Swapped in the motor from my 86 that got wrecked. Didnt get fuel to injector 1 and 3.

So here is what I have done the last couple weeks. Got a new harness and ecu from friend.Hooked it all up and still the same. Everything was new from my friend. I was just borrowing them.

So I did what I wanted to avoid and swapped the harness from my 86. Still the same problem. The only thing that didnt get swapped was the steering colom. Needs to be done still. But I still got the same problem.

Ive change positions of the injectors. Check and rechecked all the wires, sensors/relays.

I dont see where in the colum that anything would be linked to the separation of the injectors. But I will be swapping them tomorrow morning.

My goal was to have it running by this weekend. So much for camping and wheeling this weekend

did you check the ECU?
there are 4 pins that control output on the ecu of the fuel injectors so if your ECU isn't putting out signal then it narrows your problem to the ECU.

ANOTHER OVERLOOKED item is the grounds that are part of the injector harness there are 3 of them and people always forget to connect them and then they have issues. its not a bad idea to double up your grounds to the negative battery terminal once you do this you will be able to eliminate a grounding issue.

thats about all i can think of, once you do this you will get an idea of whats wrong.

At this point I have 2 ECUs that test good. all the grounds are good.

What I am pondering is why between all I have done with trying a brand new harness and ECU then swapping my 86 harness over. Why is the problem still the same. That is why I mentioned the steering column. I havent swapped it over. Its all thats left to button up the harness swap but didnt and really still dont think it could have anything to do with it.

Just really odd to me

if it was the ignition switch i cant see it just killing 2 of the 4 injectors.
but i would change the the ignition switch if that's all you have left then do it!
keep in mind if you had a short in the old harness and hooked your spare computers up to it you would have shorted those ecus also.

I believe Ive been chasing a ghost.

I was given a new efi relay today so I put it in. Got it to sputter twice then nothing. But at least I got fuel to all cylinders now. I guess the relays can test good but still be bad.

Since it sputtered I pulled codes. Got the code for the TPS. Swapped in my spare and tested it. No good at all. So now I gotta wait for next friday to order a new one. Hope this is all.

Bad vision you were right. I dont know why I forgot to look at 4crawler.

Anyway I got a new TPS. got it installed and adjusted.

I really tries to start now just wont totally commit to it.

Im giving myself this weekend to get it running or Im gonna tow it to the dealer. I was talking to them today and they figured the TPS would fix it. But what do they really know anymore about the older trucks. The guy that sold me the TPS was guessing if it was the right one. How hard is it to put some numbers in the computer and match them with a part. I brought the old one in with me.

tps and MAF go hand in hand with issues like this it may be worth just forking the 200$ for a NEW MAF.
i would really look into the 3 major components of the no start issue. TPS MAF and ECM
together they are about 400$ which is way cheaper then a dealer bill and they are manufactured and tested not used.

I thought about the maf but when i pulled codes it didnt come up. I think im a tooth out on the distributor.

I had to stop early tonight. I learned a good lesson the hard way. decided to check for spark and got the plug to close to the hole. it sparked and ignited the fuel. sounded like a granade went off next to my head. Next time time I test spark im gonna disconnect the fuel system.

I couldnt walk straight for over an hour
