Thanks to all the good advice here I did the Scion hu/PIE upgrade this weekend and it came out great. The Scion hu fits perfectly, looks like a factory install & sounds much better the original. The PIE interface works well with no noise or interference. You do have to turn the MP3 player volume up to max and run the radio louder than with other inputs. I put a miniplug input in the center consol in front of the cup holders. It

Hey, thanks for the post. I'm just waiting for my PIE adapter to arrive and I'll be doing the same install as you in my 2004 SE.

Couple quick questions... where did you stash the PIE box, and did you use an RCA to minijack cable or rig something up yourself? I've only been able to find RCA to miniplug cables.

Hi pipspeak,

The PIE is tucked in under the radio. The cable was a quick custom, rca to rca cut and soldered to a Radio Shack minijack. I had this done at a shop in Redwood City (Monney Car Audio) & the installer did a great job, much quicker & cleaner than I could have.

Just some advice...don't turn your mp3 player volume all the way up.. Just go to about 8 or 9/10ths of the way. All they way can cause distortion or damage to the speakers which you may or may not notice until it is too late.. Learned that one from experience.

Cool. Is Monney a cool shop? I've been looking for a shop to always go to. Motor Music has some whack installers down in Daly City.

How far of a drive is it from SF?

Monney was ok. Make sure you price what you want before you go, but the installation work was very good. They're probably 30 to 40 min south of SF off Woodside Rd in RWC.
