URGENT: LBJ Help

I'm supposed to be towing a 5'x8' UHaul tomorrow around 400 miles (all interstate). But I just got under my vehicle and noticed that my LBJs are leaking some grease. It appears they could have been leaking for quite awhile.

While I'm not sure of that, I know that I haven't heard any unusual clunking or anything from my front end. I also know that the 4th Gen's LBJs are under constant compression from the weight of the vehicle (unlike the 3rd Gens) which makes them less likely to fail.

That being said...

Think I will be okay for the trip, then to get them fixed when I arrive? Or should I take it to Toyota tomorrow to have them change them out? I would do it myself but time is the issue. What does that usually cost?

Bottom line is I can't afford to wait more than a day or maybe two to leave. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

In my opinion yes. When I lifted mine, there was oozing from the LBJ's. I have wiped them clean and not noticed anymore. Again, only my opinion. Good luck.

Those don't look terrible to me. Looks like there is still grease inside the boots. If you squeeze the boots, can you feel grease inside them? Combined with the lack of noise, I'd say you're fine for the trip. Just keep an eye on the grease.

You're more than likely fine. They're just dust caps. Mine were torn when my lift was installed 50k miles ago, and they're still fine....

Thanks for the quick replies. That's kind of what I thought, so I think I'm gonna go for it and just keep an eye on them.

Kinda hard to tell, a little oozes out when I squeeze them though so I assume that's a good sign.
