USB folder list not working

Running into a weird problem with the USB flash drive support on my 4runner's nav unit. I have a little USB flash drive I loaded up with music and stuck in the USB port. I can play the songs just fine, and use the folder up and down buttons to scroll through them just fine. However, the folder list button pops up an empty window with no folders in it. I have quite a few folders on here (50 or so), and slowly scrolling through them one at a time with the folder up/down buttons to find an album just isn't cutting it.

Has anyone else had a problem listing the folders? I read in the manual that the system will try and scan the entire usb device when you plug it in, so at first I thought it was just taking a while to finish that before it would show a folder list. However, I've left the flash drive in there for 2 days now, running the car for a couple of hours at a time, and it's still not showing any folders in the folder list.

Found the problem. I wasn't waiting long enough! I had enough folders, subfolders, and songs on my flash drive that the folder list takes up to 20 seconds to display. I wasn't waiting long enough for it to pop up.

I've now re-organized many of the folders, gotten rid of the subfolders (since they don't work properly on this system anyway), and cleaned up the naming. We'll see if that speeds things up a bit.

I've read other posts where people are talking about hooking up entire usb hard drives full of music. Yikes. I can only imagine trying to browse through all that. The interface is pretty slow, so it would really take some time if you had, say, a few hundred albums on there.

I have my entire CD collection ripped to MP3 on one drive, that's 118 GB; 13,993 Files in 2,439 Folders. My wife (a software engineer) wrote a nifty program to copy them into folders, 255 files per folder, with one click of the button. We don't even try to browse, we just let it random it's way through the folders.
