The vehicle he was in was a LE with full time 4WD with a center differential. Those "mechanics" locked it in 4HI and then complained of friction! Better yet the locked it in 4LO and complained of more friction! On dry pavement! And then they determined it was a bad design by Toyota. ..

This is why people need to learn stuff for themselves or suffer with the results of their ineptitude.

If it helps, my dealer told me I had to stop and go into neutral to shift into 4Hi. I asked him when Toyota went back to 70's technology. I then asked him if the manual locking hubs were included or an option.

Freakin' idiot dealers.
