So I ordered a set of 4300k bixenon of course HIDs from XenonDepot and they are on their way. I currently have a set of 8000k HIDs on the runner that I got from a local shop. He bought analog ballasts and cheap bulbs. I hadn't done my homework at the time and thought they were decent. We installed them and one bulb was purple, one was white ...hmmm, :wtf: so he fixed them by the company resending 2 more bulbs.

We compared all 4 bulbs and picked which 2 matched the best...HAHAHA!! Oh god how dumb i feel now writing this... Anyhooser, I hope 4300k Volt HIDs do better than the 8000k POS.

REASON FOR THREAD: Can someone post a picture of their runner with 4300k HIDs?

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE, dont complain about how HIDs blind people(Like previous threads on this forum) and not to do it. I know how to correct and adjust headlight housings and not provide much glare. No complaints about HIDs in non-projector housings. Toyota Siennas come factory with Philips 4300k bulbs/no projector.

I HAD 4500K which is close enough to the 4300. The visibility sucked. I aimed them every way I could think of and got flashed all the time. OEM headlight housing and everything. So yeah.. whats your secret to avoid this?? (besides projectors)

Well GottaBeTRD, keep in mind I have 8000s and they produce maybe 50% light than yours. The glare wasnt too bad when they were first put in but i HAD to adjust them. I angled them towards the middle and I kept in mind that factory, the driver bulb does not cast as far as the passenger bulb, strictly to counter blinding oncoming traffic. So i angled my bulbs downward and narrowed my line-of-sight in my bulbs. They SUCK!! I hate them and have to put halogens in when i do my inspections, and i cant do halogen either. I wanted to do the cleanest light if i was going to do a next kit. Have friends with 6000k which are the most common, but i want more light output.

thanks man, yeah I must of had them aimed really bad or something. I tried doing the tape on the wall and all kinds of methods I learned on youtube. I just couldn't get it where I could see better and not have people flash me. The pic above is aimed almost all the way down, I could only see maybe 15 feet in front of me. it was awful

Is your grill guard matte black or a glossed black finish? It seems you couldve also gotten glare from that? Not quite sure but i know the light passes through the vents in your guard, mightve had something to do with it? I mean, no real way to ELIMINATE glare per say, but is possible to prevent light to oncoming traffic peoples' eyeballs

I saw the disclaimer and I will still say it. Don't put 4300k's in your stock housings .. please. Just pony up the little bit extra (since you already bought the expensive bits) and do a projector conversion. You will thank me, and your fellow motorists will love you.

Wont actually complain to you because it was constructional, and i wanted to convert to projectors and pull out the housings and split them and fit them in but they look like a lot of time heavy work. I have the money, its the time i dont have. If someone has the time and the know how ;D

Rickashays offers a complete retrofit service. It's a doable project as long as you have a spare set of headlights. I can not imagine going back to a non-projector headlight

Totally agree. I ran non-projector HIDs in the past...total waste. For the past few years, I've been running my current setup - true projector retrofit, 4300K bulbs. Light output is amazing. I'll never go back to PnP HID kits, much less halogen bulbs.

Projector retrofit FTW! PM me if you would like some pricing on my retrofit service. You spend hundreds/thousands of dollars modifying parts of your truck that don't always get used that often: Bumpers, armor, lift, etc. Spend some money on your headlights as you use them ALL THE TIME and do it right, you won't regret your decision to go with a complete retrofit.
