Using running board light plug?

My 2005 4Runner Limited had the running boards removed by the previous owner. When I was looking under the car between the bottom of the door and and frame rail, I saw a small white plug connected to a wire. This is located midway between the front and back axle.

I am guessing this is the plug that powered the lights located in the running boards when they were installed. Although I don't have the running boards and don't want to put them back on, I would like to wire a/some small light(s) under the car to provide light for entering the car at night. I have seen some people wire lights down there before either on here or on other boards. However, I just want to use the plug to provide power for the lights. I was thinking about maybe some LED's or a small light bar or something like that. I don't do rock crawling so I don't need the ability to turn them on manually. Just want to hook up something basic and simple to it.

Anyone know what the different wires or pins in the plug go it? Also, what kind of light wattage can I hook up to it?

Nope. Not a damn clue LOL

BUT

How many wires are there going to the plug? Probably two? I'm sure with a voltmeter you could work out which one is power and which one is ground? It could be more complicated than that, but it also may be just that simple.

if I remember correctly one is white (+) and other white with black stripe (-)
Not sure about wattage, never check it. I use LEDs under my running boards and I love it!

Do the LEDs light up a puddle at night? Sounds very interesting! Where/what kind of LEDs do you get? Any pics? (sorry for all the questions) :hatsoff:

I can post more pics when I get home. I used Oznium flexible LED strips, they like silicone strip about foot long. I cut them in half and centered peices along the running boards underneath. I glued them to running boards. Looks great at night, can see everything under truck, never step in puddle again. These LED strips extremely durable, they get a lot of beating under running boards from mud, water, snow etc but they hold up good.

I can't find any pictures of LED under running boards, I must have deleted them from computer. I pulled LEDs out this spring since snow and slush was accumulating quickly on wires in our cold winters. I might put them back but I need to figure out how to cover them

I have LED strips under my rocker panels, wired to that plug. You can't see em during the day but you sure can at night.
edit: wiring was white to silver & black to red if I remember correctly
here are a couple of pictures:

Some of the LEDs are covered in mud so it looks funny here, but they're all still functional.

sorry to resurrect a kinda old thread, but Gaterose, what kind of led strips did you use? I'm thinkin this would be a good, cheap mod to do

I just got some from 12" 12 SMD LED strips from eBay for $30 or $40 (for both), thats why I did it too. good & cheap

I should probably just walk outside and check this but do SE's or sr5's have these plugs or is it just the limiteds?
