V6 oil consumption?

From day 1, I've been meticulous about oil changes (always high-end synthetic at 7,000-8,000 miles). I'm sitting at about 148,000 miles now, and just got done with a 5,500 mile trip.

Every few fuel-ups, I'd check the oil. I'd estimate that every 800 miles or so, it would be down about a centimeter on the dip-stick. Over the course of the entire trip, I'd say I added around 1 quart of oil.

Think that's in the normal range or slightly elevated? (1 qt per 5-6k miles)?

I would say it is a bit high. However it is normal for any engine to consume some oil and also have some of the oil displaced with gasoline. So if someone oil level does not drop it does not necessarily mean its not consuming oil as it is replaced by gasoline.


I read this somewhere in the manual.
