BTW, your user name reads like a flight number but that's what 20+ years in aviation will do to a person's perception of the world. ;-)

I'm glad you could use my info about the PCV valve. I too learn from other 4Runner owners and it is quiet fun actually.

Thanks for this. Just took mine off today to take a peek. Gave it a good shake and it still rattled. 143k and I assume its still the original.

I replaced mine with 170k on it. Still rattled but it was grimey. I did this because I recently did a 10k oil change and only got 4 of the 5.5 quartz of oil I put in it back out of it. I will update if this fixed the issue.

Cant I just take my PCV valve out and clean it and reinstall it? Like clean it with acetone or gasoline?

I guess you could...but why would you, a new PCV valve costs less than $10, a quart of acetone costs about the same!!
