V6 rear seats

I found a set of nice seats that were from a V6 rig. They are in great shape other than the back of the rear seats. I have searched and havent had much luck with a replacement carpet kit for the back of the seats. Anybody had any experience on where to buy them or made there own?

Make some panels out of mdf and rhino line them, more durable in the long run.

Basically high density particle board similar to ply wood but much easier to work with, route, sand, shape, so on.

If you use mdf, make sure to coat it with something waterproof. Mdf will swell like crazy and fall apart when wet.

If you use MDF, make sure you shoot yourself in the head and then step in front of a train immediately afterwards, because that shit is miserable to work with and not at all durable. You'll hate it.

Do it right - get down to your local auto upholstery place. They've got the flexible fiberboard that is the correct thing to use, and they can probably sell you a couple yards of upholstery that's a close enough match too.

So how did they come from the factory? I know they were covered in carpet but did they have some kind of "board" under it? Thanks for all the help

v6 and 4cyl seats are the same. So you could pull any backs out of a junkyard and it will work.

1st and 2nd gen are different though.

How dose a 4runner look without the back seats?

I took some out of a 94 for my 86. After I took them out the backs looked like that. The rear carpet behind the seats covered the floor and the seat backs as one piece.
