V6 vs V8 race

So I went out to a friends place who has a 4runner and he's a member on here aswell and we did a little race.
His: 2005 4.7 V8 cornfed 2-1 lift. Gibson catback exhaust. K&N Air Intake. Plus bigger tires.

Mine: 2006 4.0 V6 bone stock.....for now.

I thought it would be even since he has a lift and bigger tires but I was wrong. His truck is a monster!

Here the vid:

Interesting.

So it looks like he had a late start but still pulled ahead?

Complete specs on his tires would be nice (to look up weight).

Did you have a passenger? Any other obvious weight differences?

Auto or manual shifting? Same for both?

In drag racing the start is everything. If they would have started equal it would have made the white 4runner look even better.

I'm almost positive there were other ways that could have been worded.

X2 on that.

To the original poster: thank you for posting this.
There were many posts in the past comparing V8 to V6 speed wise, so this is just one more real comparison of two. I wish I can have video of me accelerating next to V6 Taco of my coworker (and we have done it more then once) and since I have stock size tires the deference is even more drastic.
That V8 is a monster. :bluejump:

Sorry for all you "anti street racers" I do agree it is dangerous; however, we weren't bobbing and weaving through traffic in our bulky trucks. Just a straight shot no one else in danger. Besides I was very curious to see the outcome.

As far as the launch went he just had a bad start. I forgot to mention his is 4x4 so no wheel spin. I think I had a good launch with minimum traction loss. I was going to let off and let him catch me, but I knew if did that then he would have raped me!

We both used Auto mode. I had 2 passengers and I also had my 2 JL 10's in the rear with 3/4 tank of gas. He had no passengers and had 1/8 tank of gas. I will get back with you on his tire specs. I believe his T4R name is "MayankSangdod" look him up, he has a few threads.

Fun video. My V8 with a magnaflow cat-back exhaust and Volant Cool Air Intake screams like a raped ape!

You should try out the URD MAF Calibrator. Heard there is a night and day difference. Im looking into getting an AFE Stage 2 CAI, and getting my buddies gibson catback, then the URD MAF Calibrator.

The only way the V6 would have a chance is if you seafoam it. That adds about 50hp and brings the mpg up to 33mpg. Also the TRD decals off ebay add about 5hp each. Good luck :)

Simply put, you are dumb as **** for street racing, and putting your passengers at risk to see how fast your SUV can go, people like you give the rest of us bad names. why would you feel it's ok to be going over 90mph over railroad tracks in your vehicles? and there were obviously other cars on the road that you put in danger. what did you expect the general reaction from people who watched the video to be? again, dumb as ****

funny this video is still up, street racing, :bash:
this just re-enforces our bad image, not only for our 4x4 world, but this forum

Raise your hand if you've NEVER done anything like this in your car or truck.

While I agree it may have been unsafe, we've all done our share of unsafe driving. It is also apparent we all have quite a subjective view on what is safe and what is not. Going fast on the freeway to me is nothing, but I lived in Germany for several years and got used to driving very fast AND safely (yes, I know he was not on the autobahn). Let it go!:peace:
Live and let live, and always remember.......the V8 won.:bravo:

Dont like it, don't watch it. Now get off the thread.

Sorry to keep you guys waiting. His tire specs are 275/75/17 BF Goodrich A/T KO.

For all you people that are being little *****es.... Let it go, I never could understand why people cared so much about other people going faster than you are? Just move out of the way and don't be a **** a purposely block the road. Enough of my negativity, haha, I put 20' rims on my v6 4runner and I have to say, it has dramatically slowed and feels a **** ton more unstable.

Jay and pergo, It is clearly your ignorance talking. as it was stated earlier, it gives us all bad names with people like you out there, it's a society you live in, act accordingly, I don't think anyone is amazed that your truck can go fast, it is a machine, a mass produced machine, are you using it to make up for some short comings in your life? try being a man and doing the right thing from time to time if you want to be respected.
