V6 vs. V8

Hopefully this hasn't been discussed before, but if it has, I apologize in advance and if someone can point me to where it was discussed, then that would be great.

V6 models use a higher grade gas than the V8. Does the cost of higher grade gas negate the fuel savings the V6 has over the V8's mileage, or would gas costs for both models be roughly the same? Hope my question makes sense.
