V6, Whine Acceleration

When I accelerate, there is a whining noise that mimics accèleration. In my experience this is a power steering pump. Could this be something else? Mainly when accelerating and not necessarily correlated with turning. Thanks

Automatic?
If its not whining when you're turning, and mimics the engine RPM, it's something in the trans most likely. Possibly the diffs.

Check the idler pulley (ac tensioner pulley).. They have a tendency of doing that. However, could be a number of different things. Search around.

Sounds like a planetary gear maybe? I have the same problem in 1st gear. Had the problem since I got my runner. My mechanic says its nothing to worry about.

Is the whine still there at speed? Even if you take your foot off the gas?

Could be the pinion in your third member.

Jk, I know it may sound stupid but I've known ppl that have the same issue and then they notice it coming through the speakers after they pay attention and It's always in sync with the gas pedal, have you messed with the stereo wiring recently ?

Edit : I have this issue when I plug in my phone to the aux and the phone is plugged into the charger I can hear a whine through the speakers even though It's only while charging.

I have a whining noise also..I think it may be my torque converter. If I let off the gas it goes away and as soon as I step on the gas it is back. Rear drive shaft removed and in 4hi it still does it.

No supercharger... Will see if I can narrow it down tomorrow.
