V8 conversion

One question though. I know you mentioned the 4runner and sequoia tranny's were the same, except for the bellhousing thickness. Aside from the wiring and crossmember mounts, would you think a r150 5 speed would bolt right up to the v8? I know if I were to ever attempt this, and I'm sure others would agree, I would want the 5 speed with the v8

The R150 will not bolt up to a 2uz (or a 1uz/3uz). There are a few places that make adapter rings that will bolt a A340 bellhousing (or any 1uz, 2uz, or 3uz auto bellhousing) to either the R series or W5x transmissions. I am currently working on collecting parts for my own swap and this is the best place I have found. Swap Kit
I have read that the Ebay bellhousings dont line up like they should and wear bearings out... However, Thats what I have read...

The hard part is "fooling" the ECU that there is an auto trans inplace and working properly, but those are more or less just resistors.

Big problem today . I was driving and all the sudden, the engine cut off and I lost all power.... It was a first for me.

:jaw:

YotaOffroad came over today to check out the build in person. I thought he was impressed.

Anyway Took him on a test drive. I think i scared him a little.

So. The 4runner was pulling strong all the way up to 105. The engine cut off and it coasted to under 100 then engine kicked back on. I found out that it has a speed limiter.

You should take that off.

My 3.4L must not have a limiter unless it's something ridiculous like 130mph or something.
Don't ask me how I know :spy:

Scared me? Come on.. I was a little nervous running 100+ running threw that area. I saw a few "Po-po" on my way in, besides that, I was good. I like the sound of a V8 singing me the song of its people.

Really though.. Your 4runner is Awesome. It sounds good, looks good, and drives good. The only thing I could find I didnt like about your 4runner was the fact you park it in the mud....

Once I get my Tacoma swapped, We will have to get together and tear URE down. Show them Heeps how its really done on IFS!!

Well Im going to go with LittleCaesar and say Singtoe, you need to record your road rage! I wanna hear this thing in action.

Nope, I remember this video, thinking yea, I want my Tundra's engine in my 4runner.

I was wanting to see it cut off at it's limiter along with some color comments from the passenger. Another time then.

I didnt say anything when He hit the speed limiter. I thought he had let off, till I saw he had this look on his face like OMG WTF, then the speedo hit 100 and the engine started making its cool noise again.

It just dawned on me that it had a speed limiter. I guess I never hit triple speeds before.:clap2:

It really was wierd. The 4runner never really leveled of with speed. It kept climbing then Bahhhhhhhh: Then back to life again.

I love my 4runner.
