The wiring is questionable. I would think it should be relatively easy.


Over on Ih8mud there are a few guys that swapped the 2uz in an 80 so I think it should be somewhat straight forward. This swap is VERY clean and very well documented. Project - EffjJay Eighty - 2UZ powered

I almost kept an 80 for this specific purpose. I think it might be a little easier and more difficult at the same time. The 2uz should be able to bolt to the 340 in the 4runner making the drivetrain less of a hassle, hopefully, but the 80 has a much much bigger engine bay to work with unlike the tightness of the 4runner.

I was talking with a buddy about this idea before I even saw your post. Im excited about this and I hope you are able to document it all the way through.

I am going to make it 4wd. Thanks for the links. The first one is totally useless. He did not document anything as far as his conversion goes. The second link, with the Cruiser is long and quite involved. Especially with the trans swaps he did and what not.

I have no instructions or guides to follow. i will be doing this from scratch.

Solid axle is not in the cards for this 4runner. I will try to get this to look as OEM as possible.

I got the Sequoia in the driveway. It starts up great, runs smooth, drives in both forward and reverse. Cold AC. All but three windows are broken.

I was little shocked by the auction process. I won the auction for $1800. I had to pay IAAI a buyer fee of $375.00. Then I had a Internet Online bidding fee of $49.00. Then When I picked the Sequoia up, i had a Pull Out Fee of $30.00. So, I had an additional $454.00 in fees to cough up.

I set a bid limit up to $2500 so i am under that $250 or so. Although I thought I was getting an awsome deal at $1800.

When I plan my 4WD conversion, I should just have a party and invite SoCal members and their tools. Then, we can hit up the trail!

Hope to see this conversion with the Sequoia work out. As far as I know, it's a first and hopefully not a last.

I had a chance to check out the Sequoia and i should be able to make a how bunch of mods for my personal 4runner

IE,

The bigger front brakes (Tundra Brake Mod)
Rear disk brakes. This should be bolt on. No modification.
Home Link sunroof computer (Compass, temp, mpg, garage door opener, etc)
Sequoia inner CV joint. ( higher articulation )
Auto Dimming mirror.
Tundra (sequoia) Front struts. (to use with V8 conversion)
Factory 7 pin trailer wiring
Double din factory toyota radio for my Tacoma
sun visors that extend to fill the gap above the rear view mirror.
Factory Aux cooling fan
Louder horns

And i am sure that there will be more stuff, as i start breaking the sequoia down...

I think it would be easier to fit the 3rd gen body on a 5.7 tundra frame than to put the 5.7 into the 4runner

We are having a heat wave right now so i have not been working on the truck at all. It is too hot..


I vacuumed out all the broken glass, removed the front windshield and jacked out the roof so i can sit in it. I drove it around the neighborhood. It looked like i got hit by an IED. Its ghettofabulas.

Anyway, It is so hot, the only thing that I can do is sit in the drivers seat with the AC blasting. Feels cool on the stool.

That would be amazing. The problem we've been having is not having a direct swap available, but if this works, I'll be on board! Sequoia front AND rear brakes would be AMAZING. Driffter33 has rear disks for a Cadillac, his experience says it wasn't quite worth it. If we can make a direct OEM swap like the TBU... :guitar3:.
