can i grab the hella tones?

Notice the 2uz sitting in the top left corner. :hungry:

Pops Sequioa is really delaying me. I have to get it inspected and the state won't pass it if the chk engine light is on.

I went to drive the Sequoia to the Inspection station and about 10 minutes into the drive, It started missing. Then the Check engine light came on. Had to detour to Autozone to get it scanned. It pulled up P0300, P0303 and P0304 and recorded it twice. It was a random miss fire and cylinder miss fire on number 3 and 4.

Went home, try to figure out what happened. Cylinder 3 is on the oppisite side of cylinder 4 so bad ground was out. I swapped 3 and 4 coil packs with my 2uz engine and the problem went away.

I will buy new coil packs for my engine.

Took the Sequoia back to the inspection station and tried to get it inspected. It failed. It needed to be driven 50 or so miles to get all the systems to read. Anyway, drove the Sequoia around (riding dirty with no license plates) to get all the systems to to read on the ECU.

Anyway- Check engine light came on again so another trip to auto zone and a scan now shows P0420. Catalyst inefficiencies Bank 1.

Bank 1 is drivers side and could be bad cat, bad a/f sensor, bad O2 sensor, or an exhaust manifold leak.

Trial by error. Swapped O2 sensor (easiest to do) and check engine light came back on. Came back and swapped the A/F sensor and taking off my engine was easy, taking it off pops Sequoia was a pain in the arse. The A/F sensor had ceased up in the manifold. Had to remove it, put it in a vise and heat it up to remove it. Galled up the threads so had to buy a 18mm tap and clean the threads. Installed the A/F sensor (with lots of antisieze) and then had to reinstal the manifold back on to the engine.

Also had to buy new exhaust gasket and they were expensive as heck ($70 for 2). Oh ya! , I forgot to mention that in order to remove the exhaust manifold, I had to remove the motor mount. PITA.

Anyway. Problem solved. So now, I need to get some Denso O2, A/F sensors and 2 coil packs before i can do my swap.

That sounds like the ordeal.

That Subaru was a rich kid's car. Big battery cable for the stereo but took the car to the dealer for the Subaru battery, unless it has really low miles. There are plenty of little rich kid WRX racers here in southern VA.

As bad as NC can be with their inspections, VA is tougher. One of the few perks of living in SC is that they did away with state inspections in 1996. I can't tell ya how many Bubbas I know there that have had their CELs on for years, and do nothing to fix them.

I was already to start this last weekend. My Plan is too sell my LTD motor first. I have listed locally (CL). I wanted the prospective buyer to hear it run and and take it for a test drive.

I have a lot of replies but most people think that I am selling a stolen motor.

I had one dude tell me he wanted it for a 2nd gen 4runner conversion. I told him that I was not turning a wrench until, I had cash in hand. He ditched me last week but sent me an e-mail and said he would pick it up this Saturday. I tried to line an appointment with DOUS so he could come over and help remove this motor.

It is easier to sell a motor if they can test drive it. Plus, I didn't want to have the 3.4 collecting dust in my barn.

Now, if my 4runner was running like a $2 ho, I would have changed that B long ago.

Haha… I've been watching 9 pages of a v8 swap and all I've seen so far is
Singtoe's junk yard. I wanna see some action dammit:guitar3:

LMAO, Big John, you have me rolling in my cubicle today. Thanks for the posts.

Singtoe, I live in Raleigh also, I want to come by and check this out. PM me your contact info.

I will be up in Raleigh this weekend if you need a hand. Hopefully you can get that motor sold so work can begin.

I see not on a Mailbu this time.

Transplanting the 3.4 into that 2nd gen?

How much does the engine weigh, or can ya take a guess?
