V8 conversion

This is going to be pretty damn cool when it's finished. It looks like taking the body off the frame altogether has made a world of difference in terms of the difficulty of the fab and fitting of the engine to the frame.

Are you planning on doing test fits as you go to make sure things are going to clear the body as well, or do you plan to cut and make adjustments to the body as needed when it goes back on?
 
We will see tomorrow. I finished fabbing and welding up the exhaust. I used a combination of the sequoia and the 4runner a grafted up frankensystem.


I wanted to take the chassis to a muffler shop and have them bend me up a new system but with the holidays coming, I didn't want to spend extra money on that right now.

After the holidays and Birthday Month of January, I will take the 4runner to a muffler shop to have some duals made up.

Tomorrow, I will set up the EVAP system and set the body back down on the chassis.

Had to change the transmission shifter linkage for column shift to console shifter.

Check out the trannys. The v6 has more mechanical acuators and the the v8 has electronic.

But the funny the is that both trannys have the enbossements and provisions to accept either or.

Only hiccup that I had.

The drivers side manifold id too far extended. It hits the body right at the foot well.

Should I do a 2" body lift or bash the floor in to get the clearance i need?

Depends really. A body lift would take away from the sleeper look if you want it to look like a normal 3rd gen with some mild mods. On the other hand, the body would help if you want larger tires later on. I'm a fan of sleepers so I'd go with hammer time.
 
Depending on how big of a body lift you'd have to do....if it's only an inch or two...I'd do the body lift. Lookin good man!
