Haha, come on over! I am a new owner of this beautiful beast, so not opposed to making some new 4Runner friends to show me the way!
All joking aside though, if there are even any garage mechanics within a couple hundred miles of me that would be willing to do this for a reasonable price then I would even go that route. The headers came in the mail yesterday. Taking her to West Virginia this weekend, but looking to get them installed ASAP when I get back. The ticking is only slight, but I HATE IT!

Good news!
Good news - after calling 15-ish shops and only getting one quote (for $2300), I found somewhere that estimated me at $1000 for the install, and said he thinks it will end up being less. Mufflers and More in Westfield if anyone else in central Indiana ever needs an installer! Will report back once they are installed!

Hey just saw your PM and this thread. That's much more reasonable for install! I didn't call any shops to quote around here because I installed them myself. Never had any exhaust work done around here actually.

No worries - thanks for the reply! The ticking will be gone next week, so I will have a smooth, quiet ride. Probably sticking with stock exhaust on this other than the headers. I have a WRX that is plenty loud enough, so wanting to keep this one quiet.
Next up - lift and tires/wheels!

So I just got a call from the shop that has had my car for over a week - they are saying that the driver's side won't fit without dimpling the headers. They claim it runs into the steering shaft. Does that sound accurate? They claimed that they had done this job before, but I'm suspicious now...

The only times that you should have any issues with the tubes contacting the steering shaft is when you are running a body lift of 1" or greater.
Typically people combat this issue by using carriage bolts in place of the steering shaft bolts with a rounded down head to allow clearance.

Alright, thanks for the clarification. I just bought this, so it's totally possible that I have a body lift on there that I wasn't aware of and that is the cause of the issue. Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but if I do have them dimple the header for it to fit around the steering column, will that hinder performance at all? I've seen somewhere on the forums where another individual did this and was made fun of pretty hard.

Your performance won't be affected but you are visually damaging an expensive component. Imagine scratching the $hit out of a brand new set of coilovers...doesn't really affect performance, but still you hate to have to see/do it.

Well, its more of a 'functional blemish' than something like a scratch.

I'm going to pull the trigger on the "functional blemish". As much as I hate the idea, I don't have much in the way of options right now. The shop already has my car apart and I just want the annoying ticking to GO AWAY! And I would rather have a blemished header that is under the hood and does not often get seen as opposed to them re-installing the ticking exhaust manifold. Also, according to this (and That Titanium 4Runner), there are little to no performance implications:
