V8 PCV location?

I just can't seem to find this even though I have the new one in hand so I know what I'm looking for. I've changed these many times in the past so I at least know around where I should be looking but still can't find it. Can someone point it out to me or a picture would be even better.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I didn't think that there was one on this model.

Can't say that I'm sure about that either. I asked partznet for a PCV valve and they gave me one.

Can anyone confirm whether there is a PCV on the V8?

Well I looked it up at partznet and there IS a PCV on the V8's. Now where the hell is it on the truck?!

From the diagrams, it looks like it is loacted behind the oil filler neck, directly mounted to the valve cover. It is referred to as a "ventilation valve".

Thanks, I will take a look for it after work. Any chance you can post the diagram? No problem if you can't since I now know what and where I'm looking for but I though I'd ask.

Just looked at my '03 and if you are standing at the front of the truck's it's in front of and just to the left of the oil filler neck. If you are on the left side it's to the left and slightly behind the oil filler neck. There's a hose connected to the PCV valve that goes up under the silver plastic cover that covers the throttle body. The valve appears to be pretty easy to replace. Guess I'll be going to Auto Zone tomorrow and picking one up.

Put mine in today and it took about 10 minutes, start to finish. I pulled the wires off the #1 plug pack to make it easier to access. You'll need either a 22mm open end wrench or an adjustable wrench big enough to fit that size nut to pull the PCV valve. None of the parts stores around here carry the PCV valve for the 4.7L so I wound up going to Toyota and paying $9. I'm sure there must be cheaper ones out there.

As a side note, this is the first vehichle I've owned where the PCV screwed in instead of being pushed into a rubber grommet. Is this common on Toyotas or unique to the 4.7L engine?

The V6 manual mentions threads on the ventilation valve. Even gives torque specifications.

I would soak it in gasoline or spray it with brake cleaner to clean it. Then blow some air into the pcv valve (backwards) and see if the check valve seats. If so then stick it back in. Some Teflon tape on the threads and snug it up. The valve cover is aluminum so easy on it. It does not need to be that tight.

Went to the Toyota dealer to buy a pcv for my V8 4Runner. The parts manager looked it up and told me that I had to special order it. They have never had one in stock, ever. Talked to one of their master techs and he said they don't replace them, just check and clean them. I was surprised.

I've just replaced the plugs in my 05', and tried to get the PCV pipe to come loose "need a bigger wrench". But, while I was there, I noticed this filter thing by the oil neck, and haven't a clue what it is??? Looks like a fuel filter "which would be excellent and easy to replace", but not sure. I've attached the photo from the first page, and circled it in yellow. Can anyone tell me what that filter is?
