V8's...limited production in future?

[4x4 V6]

Hi all,

I just talked with one of the sales manager at a Toyota dealer and he told me that Toyota will be slowing down the production of the V8's and increase the production of the V6's. His reasons were marketing reasons to keep the Land Cruiser selling and also keep the Limited V6 4Runner's around $37K.

A month or two ago, I thought I read somewhere that the Land Cruiser was phasing out. I heard some rumors a few weeks back that the V6's were scaling back a bit. This totally contradicts what this sales manager just informed me.

Has anyone else heard this?

Well, since this post (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=466) says that the V6 Limited models are being phased out, sounds like it's anybody's guess.

Land Cruisers have always been limited-production for Toyota. In fact, many Toyota dealerships only get one or two TLC's.

I doubt that Toyota will let the Land Cruiser name die out. It is just too legendary...kinda like the Jeep Wrangler name. In one form or another, the Land Cruiser name will likely live on.

I think the rumor of no V6 Limited's is just that a rumor, I responded earlier and said it was unfounded. As far as cutting back on V8's because of the Land Cruiser, I feel the bigger problem might be the Sequoia. Toyota sells very few Land Cruisers. My guess is they will re-make the Land Cruiser and it will still be meant for low sales. The Sequoia will still be their biggest seller of big SUV's. As far as cutting back the V8's on the 4Runner, I find it doubtful.
