Valet, wrong truck

I don't like valets, but I had to drop my truck off in a hurry because I had an important interview dinner.

Took them another 10 minutes to locate mine... wonder if the owner of the other runner would have said anything.

Probably a valet company that cuts corners on what info they put on the tag. Must of just had "Silver 4R".

When I valeted for a resort, I had to retrieve a red Ford Tempo rental (thats how long ago :biggrin2: ) and whoever parked it the last time didn't log the location. I almost ran the whole lot and finally found "red Tempo". Unlocked the door, key turned the ignition, drove it up to the door and handed it over to the guest...he drove off. About two minutes later he comes back up and says this isn't his car. Uh...what?!? :confused: Reparked the car and started running...again. Found "the other" red Tempo and brought it up. Bingo!

Two different cars had the same door and ignition key! Never happened again or heard of it happening again, either.

Gotta love early 80's Ford quality!
 
The guy who stole my 4rnr a few years ago had a toyota key and just walked around trying every toyota he came across. He said it didn't take long to get a match. :lever:

Pretty much any 80's to early 90's Toyota key would start my 4Runner. My mechanic though he screwed up another customers Corolla because their key started my Runner and he moved it. He tried to use my key on the Corolla and it wouldn't budge. Took him awhile to figure out he switched keys.

We took my parents 92 grand voyager in to shop to have motor and trans work done (my mom wouldnt let it go about 8 years ago) the shop had to take it to the dealership to have the ac legally purged and then again refilled apparently the new guy went to get it because there was a green 01 voyager waiting at the shop for us when the vehicle was ready (not only would the worn out key from our van unlock the 01 but started it as did the aftermarker keyless entry/remort start)

Lets say that we will never do business with them again.. First wrong car second this confirms that the shop manager did not inspect the vehicle after delivery from the dealership or that the dealership actually did the work and or to the correct vehicle...


This wouldnt have been an issue had the mistake happened prior to the engine and trans work.. And that the work was done on a vehicle that had ~20k miles and not 300k+
