Valve cover bolts loctite??

Getting ready for a valve cover gasket job. One thing I have noticed it that for the majority of guys they note that the valve cover bolts have worked loose over time, and by that I mean that when people check their bolts for the 1st time after the factory put them in the generally find some if not all are loose.

So, I wondering if it would be a good idea to put a drop of blue loctite on the bolts when reinstalling them after a gasket replacement?

The valve covers are held in place with the rubber gasket and the sparkplug tube grommets plus the rubber washers on the bolts the torque value on the bolts is 53 inch pounds so the blue loctite may hold them in place but will make it tougher to remove. if you torque it in the right pattern you should be fine. Mine have only leaked one time in 20 years.

not sure if i would put blue loctite on those bolts. If the cover is torqued to spec so that the rubber is compressed and the cover bottoms onto the head, then the bolts shouldn't loosen.

and you can't re-torque a bolt with loctite since it will break the thread seal. To do it you would have to remove, clean existing loctite and reinstall
