Vent Visors - In Channel Or 3m?

Trying to decide which ones to get...and wanted some opinions/pics? If there is already a thread on this...let me know. Thanks!

I just ordered the canadian vent visors (3M) ones I think from a site called the Toyota Depot.
I believe you can get to it by typing www.toyotadepot.com or you can call them at 604-530-9151. Be advised that the phone number is an international call just so you won't be surprised like I was when the phone bill arrived.

BTW....here are the parts # and prices:
----Side window visors= #C0500-35023 for $59.95

----the sunroof wind deflector=C0500-35094 @ $43.35 plus you will pay an international shipping charge for it to be UPS to you.

Please note that the above items are recommended to be installed in temps above 65 degrees so the adhesive will adhere properly. Mine are still boxed and sitting in the corner until spring comes.

i've had both types of visors, and imho the inchannel is the way to go. fits clean and looks better.

Guys, whoohoo!.. my first post here ! Hello to all !



Just replaced my 1993 SR5 4x4 4R with a mint 2004 SR5 4x4 SR5 V6. It has the vent visors / 3M tape. I would like to remove these, don't really care for that. How to proceed without damaging paint, etc.?

use a blow dryer to heat up the area and then use dental floss to get behind the adhesive tape. (this works with the emblems, and I think they'll work for this application too). You may be left with some adhesive afterwards, but a product like Goo Gone or similar can take that stuff off. Check your local home improvement center for it.

I've had the 3m type on my older 4Runner, and after putting them on, I really didn't like how they looked 'stuck' on.

I just got the sunroof visor too, and got the clip mounted rather then the tape for the same reason. Just looks nicer I feel.

The in-channel look better and are nice but it seems more than not after several years or even less they tend to get loose and rattle at highway speeds and some owners of them have reported them falling out of the channel. Hopefully the newer designs are better to ward off these problems.

How far do the in-channel visors flare out? I know weathertech.com has some in channel visors for sale. While I was tempted to get them, there were two things that kept me away.

That is, 1) If it flares out too much it doesn't look that "flush" w/ the truck. I like the look of the Accord visors because they're sleek and look almost OEM.

2) Going through a carwash may mean a little more attention to detail for the guy drying my car. I'd prefer the whole car washed. But that's only because I'm picky.

I bought a clear bug deflector for my maxima and I loved how it didn't look like it was there. Kubes, would you get the tinted visors or look for a clear varient for your truck? The A-piller area is important for me, and I wouldn't want something that interferes w/ visibiility.

I bought the in-channel weathertech visors and are completely happy with them. I also owned a set on a previous SUV without problems. They have a very clean look being in-channel. They do not flare out more than any other visor. I can just barely get my fingers between the glass and the visor when wrapped with a towel, so about 3/4" gap. Dark and light tinted are available. They are more expensive than other brands, but they have top quality finish and are absolutely crystal clear with no cloudines. They will NEVER fall out as I had to wrestle with them just to get them in. VERY tight and secure fit. I got mine directly from weathertech as that was the only place I found the dark tinted ones.

Those are the same ones I have, and you're right, they do take a little work getting them in

In channel is the only way to go IMHO. That said, I had an '04 with "Vent Visor" brand in channel and they were OK. On my '06, I spent the extra few bucks and got Weathertech. No comparison in fit and finish. Not to mention they are sleeker, as in they don't stick out as much as VentVisor.

Yes,initial fit is very good but if you plan on keeping your SUV longer than a few years some will be buying another set.

do these things make noise? rattling or wind buffeting? anyone have any GRIPES about these accessories? ie reduced night time visibility in the A pillar area, cleaning, etc?

I got the AVS (AutoVentShade) brand visors, and they are also in-channel. I think they look great, but then again I've never had the Weathertech's. No noise what so ever at highway speeds.

Does anybody have pics of their Weathertech visors?

I have had both. I had the 3m outside mount on my 03 and now I have the in-channel on my 05. Definately go with the in-channel as I noticed a HUGE difference in wind noise between the 2. Not sure why but I did and they look much cleaner as many have stated. Check Ebay as I got my AutoVentshade brand on there for about $35 and then $10 shipping. Not bad at all.

so do these things make it so that you can open your window more, and not have wind buffeting and blowing in too much? along with letting you crack it open a bit in the rain too of course.
