Very first wax job.....

Used a polymer wax for the first time 2 months ago. I used Griot's One-Step sealant. Meguire's NXT is supposed to be quite good. Mother's makes one, Calif Gold Synthetic. These are easier to apply, easier to remove, last longer, work on black trim and rubber instead of discoloring it like regular wax. Heck, I use it on the windshield. Beads rain like a mofo.

Wanna get really schmancy? Have them clay bar it, then use a polymer wax. it'll be so smooth and slick, unbelievably slick and shiny and oh so nice.

I have been using Meguiar's Ulimate Liquid Wax. Easy to work with and I also bought the Meguiars DA Power System to make wax/polish jobs easier. It also doesn't stain plastics which can be a huge PIA if you're not careful. Clay bar before wax though. I will also be trying out Iron-X for the first time. Anyway, why not do it yourself? I wouldn't let anyone else get that up close and personal with my paint.

Waxing is basically the easiest thing you can do, and is honestly a great way to look a bit more into the details of your car. I personally like the NXT 2.0 as it lasts forever and looks great, but Meguires' cleaner wax is also really nice as well. Seconded on the claying before waxing too, it makes a big difference.

I like washing, claying and waxing my runner myself. I would never pay someone to do it for me lol. I use meguiar's clay bar and wax with great results. I also use a Porter cable variable polisher. Makes claying and waxing a lot easier.

George16...what kind of pads are you using on your Porter Cable? Recently bought one and it is still in the box. Not sure of what pads to use. It came with a mop like looking thing and a sponge that feels a bit rough to me.

I've used lots over 30 yrs

and this seems to work best overall for me and is among the longest lasting in my experience.

Even though it is a new vehicle, very important to do a clay bar process on it to remove rail dust and any other contaminants it was exposed to during shipping.
