Vibration after Airlift 1000

Hi All,

I just installed Airlift 1000s on my 2012 SR5. Even with them fully deflated the rear rides an inch or two higher. I even hooked the boat back up and dropped it so I could pull more air out but it still sits higher than the trailer will go, so I have to use a floor jack to get the trailer up enough to hook it up and unhook it now -- not a problem before the Airlifts. I could get a lower drop hitch but that seems like the wrong way to go.

On top of this, there's now a tire-out-of-balance type vibration happening between 50-70 mph. In my searches I see this happening after lifts without alignment. I'm taking it in for a balance and rotation tomorrow to see if that's the issue, but it seem oddly coincidental that it would start a day or two after installing the lifts.

I can't find anyone with a similar issue -- and I can't find anyone else on the forum whose truck is still lifted in the rear after the Airlifts are mostly deflated like this.

No idea on the vibration. Did you cut off the bump stops at the top of the springs before installing the bags?

Between my Air Lifts and Bilstein 5100's I gained only about 1/4 to 1/2 increase with bags at 5 psi.

Yes, I did cut off the bump stops, but I didn't remove the very top portion because I couldn't get them pulled out without removing the springs, which I didn't want to do after being able to install the airbags with the springs in there. Frankly it was late and dark.

That would make a lot of sense since there is probably an inch or two of them left up there though. I'm installing a tranny cooler tonight so I might take a hack at them at them too. Still no idea about the shake. I'll post back tomorrow after the tire shop takes a free look at balance and rotates.

I installed my bags like you did. I left one section of the bump stop. I don't have any added lift with the airbags at 5 psi. It's sits just as it did without the air bags. I don't have any vibrations either.

Solved!

Thanks for the input. When I got under there to check it all out, I immediately saw that the drivers side bag had its hose pinched and was still inflated. It caused the lift. I assume that since I drove a hundred or so miles with it like that, it knocked my tires off balance. Fixed the airbags and got the tires balanced. Good as new!

I also grinded out a groove in both pucks so the air hose has a channel and this doesn't happen again.

Hey guys what part # kit from Airlift are you using for 5th gens?
They don't have a 4runner fitment listed.

I still have an AIR LIFT 60809 1000 Series Rear Air Spring kit in box at home right now, was going to do my 4th gen but just traded it for the 5th gen 2 days ago.
