Vibration Felt When Just Idling Along

Something different here. While everyone else seems to have rough idle issues, my parked or stationary idle is smooth as can be, however, if I take my foot off the brake and start rolling along in a parking lot or 4 way stop sign, I feel a vibration that is slight, but noticeable to me.

This only happens if my foot is completely off the accelerator. The idle is normal at around 675 and the speed is so low it doesn't register on the gauge.

I can even feel it in the steering wheel. The engine seems smooth as silk but it feels almost as if I'm driving over a stippled/rough surface. As soon as I give it some acceleration to increase speed — I can't feel it anymore.

I'm leaning towards a sticking rear brake shoe or something in the rear. But that's only because I have a bad seal (or bearing) in the passenger side and I know the oil can gum up the works. I'm mostly just taking a wild guess though to be honest.

All the wheels feel the same temp when I touch them after a drive though. U-joint issue maybe?

Anyone else experience this issue?

CEL on?

Could be your plugs. You can also try and clean your throttle body and IAC..

Also does this only occur when you're running cold?

No CEL. I've got NGK plugs and wires on the way so I may just clean the TB and IAC when I do plugs/wires since I haven't been in there before.

It occurs at all times regardless of the temp.
 
Possibly a torque converter going out but that usually happens when you start to accelerate. Good luck hope you figure it out hope it's nothing serious.

Holy Lazarus Batman....but did you ever figure out what this issues was? I notice it when I am in a drive-thru or parking lot etc... just letting off the brake (1- 3 mph). I can feel a cyclic rumble strip type vibration, coupled with a nasty vibration/death wobble at 65-75+ that I cant get rid of. Its been glass smooth before so I know it can be done. I replaced the usual things last year (itre, otre, lbj, along with springs and shocks), so pretty sure I'm good there. I had tires balanced at a Toyota dealer and that did nothing for it. I plan to have a road force/hawkea job done in the next week or so. Thanks.

Yeah it was my tires. If I don't rotate them about every 6k, they wear in just such a way that they produce a rumble effect at very slow speed (1-3 miles or so, like you).

I like it actually, it reminds me when to take them in for a balance and rotation.
 
Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking it might be my tires as well but didn't want to accept it. They still have a lot of tread but I think they are cupped beyond repair. I will not be putting Duratracs on next time. They look great, but they are noisy and have been for a long time. It may be my fault for not rotating them as often as I should but it sucks nonetheless.

Yeah rotations are key. I have over 50,000 miles on my tires now and they will make it to 60 for sure.

If they are "cupped" that often indicates an inflation problem.
What pressure are you running them at?
 
Had my tires road force balanced and rotated yesterday. No wonder I have vibrations at hwy speeds. They were 11, 34, 52 and 55...acceptable high is 40, says the tech. The death wobble is gone for now but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it is back.
 
Cooper ATP's are notorious for this. Had the same issues with mine and chased the vibration for months. Switched to AT3's and problem gone. ( Discount Tire Direct pro rated them for me and shipped the AT3's for free. They also paid to return the ATP's. )
