Vibrations when Slowing Down

Hi everyone

My 4Runner starts to vibrate pretty hard when slowing down (usually very noticeable when slowing from 50+ mph). This isn't really the 65 mph vibration that a lot of you guys talk about. Also a strong pulsation from the brake pedal, but it's not the ABS kicking in...

Any reasons why?

I thought maybe warped rotors, but the dealer just did my front brakes like a 1,000 miles ago, so wouldn't they have noticed?? Although they did refinish the front rotors, could they have possibly refinished them badly??

Still need to get the sulfur tsb done too..

ughh other than that i've had a good time with the truck, but I've been itching to get something new.

even though they did the brakes, who knows on their quality of work..

i'd check it myself (rotor and pads) to make sure it's all even. if it's uneven, you'll notice a shimmy of a vibration.

since you're gonna take it in for the sulfur issue, you might consider having them check it out :)

good luck

Year and a half now, just want something sportier. I have the 4Runner paid up, so I'm pretty sure I'll just hang onto it. And maybe add an M3 to the stable. I can get a pretty good deal on an M3 lease right now.

If you have driven anywhere where you have used excessive braking (i.e. the mountains) and especially if it was cold, you may have caused your brakes to overheat and then cool too quickly resulting in your brake rotors becoming warped. This happened to my friends '99 on the way home from a skiing trip and he was forced to replace his rotors but it some small cases they will eventually smooth out.
One qusetion though, does the car shake all they way untill you stop or just part of the time?

Thanks for the input, I'm thinking maybe it was the new pads wearing in, as I've tried it the past couple days, and haven't been able to replicate it. I'll still have them check for warped rotors when I do the sulfur tsb
