thats one heck of a pull for the little 4runner. The drump truck driver could have made it through that with a little more speed.

that was funny! i was waiting to see if the rear of the 4r was going to get rip off from pulling that 50 ton truck.

Did you guys see what the arm pit of the dumptruck driver did to the rig? hehehehe... No? I bet you are going to play the video again to see it!!

There is a motif in Central America for Ads of toyotas 4x4. They say " No lo maneje, maltratelo". Translation: Don't drive it, abuse it!

I bet that 4R owner saw the commercials!

The video also reminded me of Jurasik park when a M320 was pulling the trailer out of the cliff (all wheels spinning).
 
Just imagine if they had the V8 with all that torque?? :eek: It was an impressive video, but I would rather not try that with my own 4Runner.

I'm sure the 4runner helped, but it really didn't do that much at all. As already mentioned, if the dump truck driver had half a brain he could have gotten over that by himself.

A guy here locally in his full size Chevy with about $20k in rims, tires, and mods tried to do that with a dump truck half that size that was stuck in the mud and he ended up destroying his entire undercarriage of his truck. I think the bill was somewhere around $6k to fix it. :bouncy2:

The first outing of the boating season is a special one. I usually sit on the dock for a while and see how many of my fellow boaters end up back at the docks because they forgot to put the plug in the drain hole. I've done it enough times myself. This last time was a test of the Runner's 4wd capabilities on a steep and wet dock.

Some poor fellow with a really nice 24 footer filled his boat up to the gills with water by the time he had her back at the ramp. There was only about 6 inches of gunwale above the water. So we went over to help the poor guy get her out of the water to drain her. He had 2wd Ford 150, hooked her up, and spun relentlessly on the slippery dock. Fortunately, he had some really nice chalks that kept the whole rig from going under...seen that too. Once I verified that the boat wasn't going to take me under it was Runner to the rescue!

We hooked up to his rig using a nylon strap. Without the diff locked we couldn't get enough power to the wheels to get up the ramp with both the F-250 and the boat in tow. The VSC was fighting the pull too much and this was obviously a lot of water. I also wanted his rig in neutral so we didn't crash into one another when he found some traction. I locked up the diff and with all four wheels spinning mercilessly, we chunk, chunk, chunked the beasts up the ramp for a draining. It was very impressive to say the least of the Runner's V8 torque. We sat by his boat for 25 minutes watching the water drain and drinking his beer!
 
It was a fun video to watch but didn't really prove anything. Yeah a 4Runner can spin its tires on dirt and not self destruct, but we already knew that...

Pal I disagree with you!. It does prove something. That 4R owners have balls!! Or lack of sense!!

Anyway... You are right, loose ground = no biggie... but I would have thought twice of doing something like that.

On another note, where in Iowa are you? I live in Polk City (very close to Ankeny). Do you know other members of the forum in the state?

Well I guess you're right about that... Pulling a dump truck with a 4Runner does take some considerable testicular fortitude!

I'm about 2 hours east of you, Iowa City / Cedar Rapids. I think there may be one or two others from Iowa, but I don't know them...
