Hey 4runner dinosaurs!
So I have a 2002 4runner right now, love it, blah blah blah. Any way, my wife needs a vehicle since her Ford is no longer with us (thank god). I have been browsing Craigslist for a bit, looking for cars for her, and have decided that why buy a car for her when I can buy a car for me and let her drive my 2002!

So what I have found is an '86 with 160,000 on the odo for $5k.

86 Toyota 4Runner 22re Excellent Condition!

I know there isn't a ton you can tell just looking at the 2 pictures, especially considering one is of a wheel, but still. Any thoughts?

I don't know what prices are like where you are, but around here Toyota, and 4wd prices are typically higher than most places...

that said, I think that is way too much. what was the MSRP for that thing in 86?

Nice looking ride. I like the wheels and tires. I'd say its worth $3500 if it's in sounds mechanical condition and has the 22re/5spd. I'm basing that off my opinion and what the market is like in Idaho... so that $3500 number may vary.

Alright, sweet. I may have to go take a look at it and see if I can talk him down on the price. It sounds like it's already lifted, so that saves me a bit of money down the road.

I'll probably use it as a daily driver 'till my wife can afford the darn impala she wants, then start playing with the 4runner and turn it into a bit of a prerunner. Unless someone thinks I should go for something less 4runner-ish. I've just seen some of the pirate offroad classic 4runners and they are frickin beautiful.

Only thing I am thinking right now though is price. Would it be worth it to buy one in another state where it will have less chance of rust (Florida eats cars) and cost a bit, then drive it down here, or just see if I can talk him down a bit on the price? Even with a bit of talking I doubt I could get it down to 3k.....

If anyone knows someone selling a good one for a good price, I'd probably be interested :D
