Vivid Racing ECU flash tune. Any detail?

I would def give the ECU time to adjust to the new tune and keep reviewing/providing feedback. This was the case with my dozens of tunes and revisions on my track car.

You rock for beta testing this as well. Owe you some karma, dude!

I'll take all the Karma I can get. Still feeling good, yes the ECU should take some time to re-calibrate and optimize everything. So far so good!

Nice and dry out today, I was running late for work as well and driving pretty aggressively, there is for sure more midrange grunt and takeoff seems faster, pedal is more responsive. I am holding it down less to maintain speed while cruising as well. So far only downside is the cost.

would be curious if you could log some data and then send them the results so they can further refine the tune?

Is that possible technically? Yes. But I doubt VR really wants to spend the day remotely dyno tuning me, I certainly dont want to pay a dyno operator and them for another tune...so I doubt that will ever happen. I did reach out to my personal friend who does a lot of tuning on GTRs, 911, ect at Boostlogic here in austin to see if he thought he can use my MyGenius to further tune on the dyno, I will get back to ya'll as im curious myself. They have in-house dyno and can tune in AZ if you go to the shop, perhaps they'd do that for you there. I suspect pushing my tune any further will result in my having to run 93 octane and would only be a small improvement on where I am now, not worth it IMO, the throttle map maybe able to be tweaked without dyno time, probably the only thing i'd change from here.

Most tune revisions don't require a dyno. Just that you follow certain tuner-instructions, such as 5 mins of round-town driving, followed by 3 consecutive runs from 15mph to 75mph in 3rd gear (as an example from the particular sports car I used to have tuned) in a certain logging mode.

That would give enough data to revise around.

That said, 99% sure Vivid wouldn't be interested or they'd mention in their pages about revisions. Someone else might be willing, but they'd have to be privy to Vivid's tune files.

Ah, they will do revisions for $350 a pop, so lets say I got headers and deleted the rest of my cats, thats worth tuning for to optimize, and they would do it. The process for them to remotely tune based on driving around would take a while but is totally doable. I don't believe they offer that though...or maybe 350 per map, they will.

My road trip starts in about 2 hrs. Should have a MPG update for everyone on Monday.

I may have missed it, but are there actual dyno charts? From the review, it doesn’t sound like any significant improvement [emoji53]

Really interested in this. Going to wait until after warranty of course. But that should be enough time to determine if it hold up. Thank OP for doing all this and sharing. And karma and prayers your way too....

Allrighty...Road trip completed, worse MPG across the board however, this was a poor test. It was very windy both legs of the trip and I hit traffic on 35 and in Fort Worth on the way, totally different ride than last time so I can't compare them after all. Around town I feel like its doing a tad better, have had a few trips up in the 16s, several in the 15s, when typically I should have seen 13s-14s...this is purely unscientific data. I have been driving the same as before trying to let mpg be the true testament of gains, since I am not dynoing or doing any 0-60 testing.

What was your mpg's before the flash? I cant break 14.5 even on highway trips. I know your rig is way heavier than mine.

You will risk durability anytime you tune and your engine warranty.

Eh not always. Had a tuned sportscar that was very aggressively tuned, and I sold it at 131k miles. It's still going strong with the new owner.

Cars are significantly overbuilt these days, and it's even possible that stock rich AFRs can cause faster fuel dilution of the oil, so leaning it out a TAD actually improves the oil quality between changes.

That said, you really do risk things with a BAD tune. So would love to see this truck get logged to see if knock is staying low even under high load. Great updates so far!

Before I was hanging out in the 12-13 range...I do feel like I have gained some MPGs...Today I saw 15.5 over about 17 miles, hwy with a few spots of traffic and some stop lights. I will take that, especially considering the weight I haul around. My truck has the fridge and both drawers loaded for camping, and 5gal of H20 on the back...Maybe I can crack 17 if I empty things out.

One thing I did recently made a huge difference in mpg...make sure your alignment and wheel balance is spot on. I also aired my stt pros up to 40...rides harsher but all those things together got me up from the 11-12s to 12-13s. Every little bit helps! I do also have gears so unless you do too, its hard to compare.

just want to thank you for being a guinea pig for all of us.. been following you since the whole URD MAF calibrator thing and it looks like its removed?

I would love to see someone that does the Intake, headers, and exhaust and then gets the stage 2, If those numbers hold up and are even close thats quite the difference! Around real world supercharger numbers.

Sure, love to share my results, good or bad.

I'm not sure that was me. I posted on the URD MAF calibrator thread but never bought it, not looking to at this time either.

Any new updates with the tune?

Things are still rocking with the tune, its running very well, I can feel the pep increase, better shifts and better performance in the hills. MPGs seem to be higher, I used to struggle to get into the 13s, now I see them very often and have hit 14-15s as well...that is new, I had not seen a legit 15mpg since I got the drawers and tent on. I have seen no downsides thus far, other than the cost.
