"Voltage Booster" for 31M AGM Battery

great... now I have to give him more money.

They're absolutely worth it and the switching between red/white is absolutely genius. Quality is top notch too and he's been doing crazy LED conversions for quite some time. Check him out on instagram arclightleds

Finally got these in last week and they're ready to ship. The triple state voltage is truly special since it's the only booster that has 3 settings:

  • Off - Disables the voltage booster and ouputs voltage at OEM levels
  • Boost - Increases output voltage by ~0.5v from OEM levels
  • Over Boost - Increases output voltage an additional ~1 .0v from OEM levels (best for cold climates)

In most circumstances you'll likely switch between Boost and Overboost depending on how your AGM battery's resting voltage is at in relation to the weather. You may also find yourself disabling it as well if you ever go back to a standard battery temporarily. All in all it's good to have options

Does the fuse box cover fit with this switcher installed? Can’t tell from the pictures.

If it didn't it would be an inferior product and the guys who bought it would have cursed about it. Informer, I mean lolsnow products are well made to fit. Yeah the cover has like over and inch of head space from the last time I did the diode mode.

His voltage boosters are $$$$ but they are just so well designed and nice. I bought the revised gen1 version and it's been working well for 6 months now.

Fuse box cover fits without any issues/modifications.

Also all orders will be shipping in by Friday or sooner! Please look out for tracking updates via email. Thanks everyone!

Sorry to hear but I expected the HKB to fail which is why I designed my own since I doubted they were using the appropriate diode(s) for this application.

The diodes I use are more suited for this type of application nevertheless nothing is perfect and a failed diode can confuse the charging system so I built in a switch on mine to bypass the diode completely.

I've discontinued these, however, if there's interest I'd be happy to make another batch.

Any more of these for sale?

I got them in but have to work on a few other logistical items as I have other 4runner parts that are being assembled. Anywho I'll have them available Jan 1, 2019.

Excellent, do you have any posts explaining what this mod does? Does it just trick the system in upping the voltage using a capacitor? Not sure what the switch is for.

Thank you!

That is exactly what it does, tricking the system using a diode not a capacitor, lowering not raising, with this one you have three options; you can have no boost, mid boost and high boost. Mid is like ~0.5 ish and high is closer to ~1.0 boost.

From my understanding is that the alternator uses that fused circuit to sense the output voltage and regulates accordingly. Adding a diode to that circuit results in a 0.5v-ish drop which tricks the alternator to bumping up the voltage a little bit. Two diodes means a 1v drop on the sensing line. Very simple concept but very nicely packaged as well.

I'm happy to report that mine works exactly as advertised. Just got back from Colorado last night. So, I hope to wrap up my video review this week.

Guys this is a common thing on different manufacturers vehicles not just toyota. GM fixed it by just installing one of these cheap $3 diode fuses in the fuse box. It raised my voltage .5 volts which is all we need to make the difference. No sense spending $50 or $100 for a $3 fix

We don't need a lot more amps we just need slightly higher voltage, most people don't understand how electricity works or batterys. The voltage just needs to be slightly higher not the amps.

Here is a link on amazon for 2 of these for $6 if you get a battery light when you turn the car on you just installed it backwards, turn it off and turn the diode around in the fuse holder and your good to go

You’re right, these are literally the exact same thing. Except, these use a low amp diode to double as a slow blow fuse. The arclight one uses an actual fuse and give you the option of doubling the diodes.

yea I just think its a waste of money, not necessary. If you start pushing 15 volts you are pushing the limit of what some electronics can take. the specs on a lot of electronic devices will say they operate from 11 to 15v for example. You just don't want to be pushing that limit when it is not necessary

The reason it's there is because when you factor in temperature compensation even with the low/regular boost the voltage isnt high enough to charge the battery when temps are very low. On the high setting I'm not getting 15V, when I tested it I get about 14.5-14.7V
