Voltmeter

Recently I had the 4 Runner in for service. My battery tested "Good-Recharge". It produced 12.22 volts with 579 of 582 CCA's. My tech told me to drive it without worry as the alternator would charge me up. My question is twofold: 1) Should I drive the Runner, and take it back in for a battery test?, and 2) Would my voltmeter read low if I had a problem? My ride has only been used for a couple of short trips lately, so I'm thinking that this might be the cause for the test readings. Getting stranded is out of the question for me, and I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Your thoughts...

is the 12.22 while running or not running? If running then you could have an alternator issue or a bad battery. You can check your volt meter against a know voltage source.

Kind of wrapping up my own thread, but I just wanted to note that I took my Runner in after about 100 miles of freeway driving, and that was enough to fully charge the battery. There's lots of stuff on the web with regard to whether or not this can be done, but our rides do it .
