Voodoo Blue sitting unsold....hmmm

My local dealership has had a Voodoo Blue TRD Pro sitting out front for a couple of weeks now. Over the last couple of years, I haven’t seen a local TRD Pro that wasn’t pre sold or that didn’t sell within a day or two. Wondering if the updates to the 2020 models are making people wait? I haven’t stopped in because I’m afraid I’ll end up trading my 2018 off road premium. I wasn’t crazy about the Voodoo blue in pics but it looks super nice sitting out there.

my local dealerships all have trd pros sitting around... they are all about 5-10k over msrp? They are waiting for the right buyer

Seems simple to me.............Obnoxious color + $10K over MSRP = No Sale.

When you stop by, see if the sales person gives you the "You know they are going to stop making 4Runners, next year will be the last year" spiel.

The dealership that I used to work at had 2 TRD Pros, a voodoo blue and a black. They are priced at msrp plus the normal BS $12xx dealer prep stuff that you can negotiate off. The blue one is gone now and the black was still there as of last week. They don't sit long. Last year when I bought the wife's Pro none were available and we had to drive about 8 hours to get a black one.

As others have stated, it is most likely the dealer markup. Nobody needs to settle for the markup if you're willing to wait, search and/or maybe travel for your new 4Runner. I got a PRO at MSRP and so can you.

Zero markup at my dealer I bet I could walk in the door and get 3500 off of it. Our dealer has had w blue since the first of the year.

That would be pretty cool. Haven't seen any dealers discount them. I'm a professional car buyer, so my wife says since I've had so many, and I wasn't able to get a dime off of her Pro. I was able to negotiate a pretty good deal on her Audi Q7 site unseen though. That at least held. I bought mine used but still paid premium. [emoji20]

The dealer markup in San Diego was so aggressive on both Tacoma and 4Runner Pro models… at least it was the last time I was there. I think in certain markets then can do it and get away with it. No shortage of buyers over there.

Strapp Interstate in CO? They had a blue that they sold on Sunday (arrived on Monday) and a black unsold. Both were MSRP.

I went to look at the Blue but ultimately decided the Limited was more to my liking over the Pro.

I just saw a new Voodoo Blue TRD pro at the dealer when I was servicing my 2015 White TRD pro. MSRP sticker said 48K and was sitting out here in the rain in Southern California. I was tempted to ask if they were asking more than the MSRP but decided not to since my wife was with me. She would kill me if I asked to trade mine in for the new blue one. My wife said that blue looked hideous and who in their right mind would buy a car that color. I guess the color prevents buying this car. Also had the FJ rack on top which doesn't look attractive. IMO. I will stick with my white TRD pro for now.:biggrin2:

No doubt I'd perfer the white over the blue anyday. I'm not a fan of the color and I'm unsure of the rack as well. I liked it on my FJ but not sure of the style on the 4runner. That damn green coming out might be tempting though. Although I'd hate to buy the last year of a body style though. I'll stick with my MGM for now.

I bought my 2017 in MA in July 2017 at just below MRSP. Were 8 on lots within 50 miles. I emailed each. Traded in a 2014 RRS Dynamic SC and got money back. I don’t see the TRD Pro’s here in NE going over mrsp. I just don’t see it as that much of an “exclusive” vehicle around here where there is not as much of an off-road market. Good for the consumer, and I almost picked up a Trail at sig under mrsp.
Have done all the mods myself and pretty happy with the vehicle so far.

How is it that the salesmen seem to know less about the vehicles they are selling than just the most basic enthusiast? Why don’t dealerships require this salesmen to have a good working knowledge of the product they are trying to sell?

Best offer I’ve ever had was n a Cavalry Blue Pro. I got them to discount it $500. Just couldn’t pull the trigger as a sunroof was a must have for me. I ended up with an off road premium for a great price. Now that they’ve added the sunroof, I’m not sure I can live with that roof rack!
