Vortex vs. Flowmaster - PLEASE HELP

Ok, with the help of Jason, I have been driving with the Vortex from Burtman Industries for a week now.

Don't know if I can get use to its loudness though. I love its rumble at idle, but it's drone and its sound at acceleration is much too loud for a family SUV that I intend to use my Runner for.

I am still looking for a deep, mellow sound, but nothing that is loud in the cabin like the Vortex is. I have heard and read many things about the Flowmaster 50 SUV series. Is this the muffler I am looking for? Will it have that mellow sound, yet be quiter than the Vortex while inside the cabin?

Please help. Want to avoid re-welding the stock back on for I do want some sound. Any advice would be great.

p.s. Don't get me wrong. The VORTEX muffler is perfect for those who want SOUND. Definitely not quiet. Muffler does not mimick a rice burner..is deeper and much quieter, but not quiet enough for me.

Hey Jev, I haven't had my 4r for very long, its an 01, and i was wondering if this vortex muffler you're talking about is a good deep roar or if it has some whine too it since we only have V6s its hard to make them sound deep. Obviously cant get the v8 sound out of it, but I have heard some that come close. Anyways, if you could let me know how it sounds besides just being loud that would help me out finding a good deep muffler. As for your situation. I was wondering if you've tried the magnaflows. On their website it lets you listen to a v6 tacoma (same engine) and it sounds pretty mellow. Maybe not as soft as you want but it might help you out. If you get rid of your Vortex, let me know, I may be interested in buying it from you if you dont have a use for it. Thanks

Parker
