VSC has to go.

Ok I know its been talked about but I'm looking for last ditch effort here. VSC keeps coming on when I take corners at speed. Still scares the shit out of me and is very dangerous. I need to fix this. All I changed on the suspension is add the adjust able bilsteins up front and remote resi's in the back. Tires are Michelin ltx ats 265/70/17. I have recalibrated the Yaw and zero point stuff many times. Im ready to sell this thing if i cant fix it. Its too dangerous as is. I know VSC is suppose to be a safety feature but I have never rolled a vehicle in the 25 years I've been driving and not one of then has had this feature. Any thoughts if a complete icon system would help? Grasping for straws here cause I love the car but just cant keep driving it this way. Too dangerous. I know I can turn it off but having to turn it off everytime is not gonna work. I average 35,000 miles a year so i drive a lot. Thanks in advance guys!

Opps forgot to mention I put spidertrax spacers on it which I figure would help but nope.

Maybe it is the driver ;)
More seriously perhaps you should rent/borrow/test drive a similar stock model to help determine if driving style or vehicle unique.

spidertrax spacers won't do anything. your issue is in your suspension. what hight do you have your front adjustables set at? did you do any height adjustment in the rear?

The front is only set at .85. I havent done anything to the back. I have done the zero point many times and as far as I know, the last two times it worked...

Not yet. I read into the FJ thingie but when I unplug the system, it looks like it turns off the abs also and for some reason it make the terrain select light come on also. Dont think I want that solution. I will probably yaw recalibration again but doubt it will help much. It made a difference when I did it last time but obviously didnt fix it completely. As far as I understand it, the vsc kicks on when one tire starts to slip, not necessarily when the car leans over. I know that if the car leans over, it can cause a tire to start to slip but i think the nuts and bolts of it is the inside rear tire slips when it gets light when i go around a corner. Might actually try to raise the front end up to the next setting on the bilteins. Hoping that will stiffen the front end which will help in keeping the car flatter through the turns.

If your Zero Point is set properly you can howl the tires through a corner without VSC kicking in. Go test drive a new stock unit through a corner. Then go back and drive yours through the same one. Is it the same?

Actually in addition to rotational slip there also is a yaw sensor so leaning is part of the VSC. That's one of the inputs in the side curtain airbag actuation also.

Raising the front end will "lighten" or change the CG and make matters worse.

I have roughly a 3in lift and have never had VSC come on. After reading all the issues with it I even tried to get it to take over on hard corners. I dont know what speed you guys hit off ramps at but I pushed 60+ to test it and nothing happens.

I had it come on once while "testing" the corning ability in a pretty deeply pitched canyon corner (one I have driven through literally thousands of times). I can't really tell if I liked it coming on or not, I would have certainly preferred the predictable traction slippage as opposed to the undulating brakes firing off. I was a little surprised and it nearly sent me to the inside guard rail.

I've had the premature VSC issue for a while now since 2012 and have been through 2 lift setups. Even with the current stage 5 Icons my VSC is still sensitive. I've had a Long Toyota (El Monte for those in SoCal) do it twice. First I swear it worked. I then got another alignment and the issue returned. I've read every single VSC thread and performed the ZPC recalibration but I don't think it changed anything.

Couple of things left to rule out. I had the driver side lean post lift and it was about a little over 1" lower than the passenger side. I've since added a 10mm OME spacer to the rear driver side spring and now I'm within 1/2" all around (which is in Toyota's respect "within normal limits"). I thought maybe the difference in 'lean' could've affected the presumed balance read by the VSC. However, I've also added Spidertrax spacers all around personal choice not related to the VSC. I'm going to try to have another dealer redo the ZPC to see if it changes things after correcting the driver side lean.

One last thing to do if THAT doesn't work is what the Tundra guys suggested. Locate the VSC module and shimmy (or raise the rear of the module by adding washers) and redo the ZPC. Some Tundra folks have said it helped with premature VSC issue. Now the question is where can I find the VSC module? I've googled and search the forums but just found one thread that remotely speaks of it being under the cup holder in the center console? Is that true? Does anyone know where the VSC module is at?

The thing is a huge friggen mystery to me. I could never figure out what triggered it. Just some roads would make it come on during a direction change on an S curve. Mountain switch backs are another scenario. Since I swapped my UCAs, it has not happened, but that may be a fluke.

One thing I was going to try, but never did... Was to re-calibrate it with the front end up in the air a little. That would hopefully trick it to be less sensitive, but it would be trial and error to see what worked.

I am gonna upgrade the ucas to lrucas and report back. I don't think another recalibration as is will change anything. There is a road that is level but the pavement is really spider cracked. Vsc trips everything so I'm pretty sure it's coming on that time because of wheel slip and not leaning. Doubt ucas will make a difference but I want them anyway. Maybe it's my tires. I have Michelin lax ats that have lasted for ever. Maybe the rubber is harder so they are more prone to slip?

if you want VSC off can't you just hold the traction control button for a few seconds while you're stopped? on my 2010 trail it shuts off the traction control first then a few seconds later VSC.

Did you go drive a new one to see?

Not yet. Not sure if they will let me take a new car to where i consistently get the slippage. Ill talk to a guy in fleet sales that I know and see what he says. I would like to test it on a TEP which they dont have in stock right now...
