VSC lights on

Friend of mine has an 07 limited and all there are lots of lights on the dash. Had it put on a code reader and something came up for evap. Could the evap have anything to do with why the VSC lights are on? Where to start looking for issues? Any common issues make these lights stay on?

[MENTION=107407]c0leman[/MENTION] My truck recently had this issue and pulled codes: P0441, P0446, P0455 all EVAP related. Got a new gas cap and now all good. Have them check the gas cap to see if it will actually tighten, the seals will go bad after time.

With almost every emissions related issue, the VSC trac and VSC Off lights come on. Something to do with turning them off to reduce the emissions of the vehicle. Something along those lines.

Gas cap is my guess. Weird thing about Toyotas...If anything flips a code to trigger a CEL (most things related to emissions), the VSC and TRAC lights illuminate. It's a safety precaution for the engine, which makes sense, but the majority of the time it's an issue that would not damage the truck.

Start with the gas cap. It's a $20 fix from a dealer -- and I would get the Toyota cap. Don't screw around with non-OEM...

I have an 05 SR5 V6 Auto 4WD. My VSC & Check Engine lights come on when it starts getting real cold out here in Colorado. At the start of Winter, the lights will be out and everything is functional. Then we have steady Antarctic Cold and then the Lights come on and stay on for like a month and a 1/2. We are having Warm weather now, and Magically the Lights went out this morning on the way to work! I guess it doesn't get as cold in Japan...With Godzilla running around and all!
