VSC Problem

I was driving to work tuesday morning and my VSC Off and VSC Trac both came on, along with my check engine light. Going to bring it to the dealer in the morning to see what the problem is. My car only has 12,000 miles on it and only been through 1 winter, so I'm kind of concerned. Anyone else have similiar occurance? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.

That same thing happened to me after getting the Sulfur TSB performed. Ended up that a sensor had failed. They replaced it and everything worked fine. Haven't had a problem since (about a year ago)

Also, not to be a goober but verify that your gas cap is on tight. I've read on the board that not having it tight can throw up some idiot lights too.

Thanks for the quick reply. Hopefully it is just the sensor! When I called to make my appointment the dealer told me to check the gas cap too, but I don't see how the gas cap would affect the VSC. Then again I dont know much about engines. In any case I checked and the cap was on tight, so we'll see tomorrow.

I had the same thing last year, and just had another one yesterday... Seems like Toyota had a bad lot of O2 sensors, and once a O2 (there are 4 of them on the exhaust) goes, it throws a Check Engine Light, then disables VSC/TRAC. Be careful driving on slippery conditions because in 2WD the back end will come around on you.

Just an update, it turns out it was a bad oxygen sensor that caused the vsc and check engine lights to appear. Replaced under warranty in 30 min.

Thanks for reporting back. It is the funny things like this that you will not find in the manual. It still bothers me that those lights will come on for a bad O2 sensor. Since the O2 sensor is an emissions item then why don
