VSC Trac ABS Slip Indicator Lights On

OK, I've searched and read a number of the many posts regarding this issue, but I still have a couple of related questions. In my case (unlike what appears in many of the other posts), my check engine light is off, only the three yellow indicators mentioned above are illuminated.

In regards to the gas cap, I checked and while it's important to tighten the cap properly, the key question is how easy is it to remove/loosen. Mine was really easy, so I took a quick trip to the dealer and picked up a new cap. The new tightens the same (ie, the same feel and clicks), however, it has a more definitive unlocking sound when removed. VCS lights still come on after I drive some distance and stop (could be a few hundred feet or a dozen miles or so. I disconnected the battery, and let it sit for 20 mins or so. VSC lights still come on. I checked the brake fluid level, while it was a little low, I added some new fluid anyway. Same story, VSC lights come on.

My vehicle is an 07 v6 2wd automatic. Will the zero point calibration apply to me?? I have downloaded the pdf, and I am not sure it would apply to mine because it seems fairly specific that it is targeted at the 2003-04 units.

Well 03 and 04 are most sensitive to the zpc. Heck just reading the vehicle with a tech stream will trigger the lights! No accompanied cel, usually means zpc, to be sure you will have to scan the vehicle. I suggest buying a tech stream of eBay for $25 to be sure. You can pm me for the unit I bought so you know it will work on your car others also bought the same unit I did with similar results of success.

Long story short, it was a failing brake line sensor that is under warranty till 150,000 miles & should be fixed for FREE (parts & labor)

I had the same light come on and turned out to be a bad alternator for me. Many places will check it for free. Good luck! Hope it is not your alternator because that was a tough fix.

Thanks for tips and comments, especially the links to the OBD pages and the write-up that BlackWorksInc did back in September. That write-up is pure gold because he goes through and systematically breaks down the problem. I especially liked his final comment "If it makes you feel better ... tighten your gas cap all you want..."

So, the first priority will be to get it scanned and then we'll see where that goes.

OK, scanner is on order but in the mean-time I ran over to the local auto supply store and got them to scan it. One thing that is nice is that the codes are stored.
Here is what came up (the names of the codes are correct, the description is just what I scribbled down:

*C1223 ABS control Sensor
*C1246 Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor
*C1249 Open Circuit Brake Light system

My guess is my main issue is the Master Cylinder pressure switch. Has anyone changed one of these out before?

Solved!

Well, a lot of grief resolved for $2.50. Turns out (so far anyway) that the third brake light was burned out. I removed it and drove over to the parts store and noticed that my trio of yellow warning lamps were not on. Popped a new lamp into the socket, and drove home (and again, no warning lights!). It may be too early to tell, but we'll see how it goes.

Abs and slip system light on

Hi. I have 2013 4 runner sr5 and now I have the abs and slip light warning on. Mechanic checked the vehicle and said needs more thorough inspection. Didn’t find anything obvious. When I drive it it seems to be just fine. Now my backing sensor is kaput? Checked the gas cap and that seems fine.
Any comments? I will post the results hopefully easy fix.
