Vsc trac and trac off lights on! HELP!!!

I was cleaning the inside of my truck and these lights came on as well as the check engine light. I read the code for the check engine light and reset it...however, these lights will not

Look for simple problems first, especially since truck runs fine. Gas cap not sealing properly could cause this. Google "Gas cap VSC 4Runner".

I had the issue before, but without the check engine light.

Do the Zero Point calibration and I'm sure they'll go out.

click on the .pdf link and there are instuctions on how to perform it. I used the meathod with the jumper wire but if you have a reader you can do it through the computer. I personally found the jumper route very easy and simple and best of it, it solved my issue with those lights always on !

You say you read the code for the CEL. (I'm assuming you used a scantool) What is the error code?? That may help others here help you.....Those lights trigger for a lot of varying reasons.

What year 4Runner? '03 or '04?

It's an 04 and the code was p2241

Huh... That's a Bank 2 Sensor 1 AFR Code.

Did you have the engine running the entire time you were cleaning? How long were you cleaning for if so?

Try cleaning the MAF sensor. That may be all it needs.

It might have been like an hour and a half and not the entire time. I alternated between having the engine running and just the radio on from the battery.

That could have been it, sometimes running them too long at idle like that can result in some oddball AFR codes for some reason. We have the same issue when Detail runs the cars too long the computer I guess gets confused by the readings or something? Usually clearing it ends up being the solution as it doesn't come back.

But, if it does come back say a couple days from now under normal driving, then you may need further diagnosis.

Local autoparts store should be able to do it or the Generic OBDII Scantool you used to pull the codes.

Or you could just leave the battery unplugged for about 10minutes, but you'll need to reinitialize the windows (rear window also), radio settings, and such.
