VSC TRAC light etc

Hi. New user here. I have been reading all the other threads for years, even rebuilt my transfer case a few years back. but my current problem defies understanding so I am posting it here.

2003 4runner with 220K miles on it. A solid performing SUV. Last month, the VSC trac, VSC off, ABS and brake warning lights and CEL all went on.

The check engine like was for the speed sensor on the transmission. I checked them both and they were fine. I reset the warning lights and the CEL did not come back on.

But the VSC and ABS lights did come back on the next day.

I read here about the zero point reset, so I did that.

no luck.

The lights now normally stay unlit (normal operations) in the morning, but in the afternoon they will go on at startup.

I have sufficient fluid. The fluid is 1 year old.

The CEL is not coming on and there are no codes there to pull. I pulled the ABS codes by crossing the 4 and 14 pins in the diagnostic plug. The flashing dashboard showed me a 1-1 with the ABS light (meaningless "something is wrong"), and the VSC trac light flashed 4-3 (No idea what this means). [update: my Toyota diagnostic manual says 4-3 means there is a fault with the acceleration sensor... a new one of those is $700].

The car still runs fine other then the ABS system being off half the time.

What should I do next? start randomly start checking wheel sensors?
