VSC Trac & VSC OFF lights on w/o a code

After starting the truck I have no lights, no code, everything is great. As soon as I move forward or reverse, the two VSC lights come on and the code C1336 is displayed.
Background, my 2003 Sport V8 4WD (#3) has 125,000. After filling up one day, I got the Check Engine Light, VSC TRAC, and VSC OFF. I tightened the cap, cleared the code P0446, but still had the VSC TRAC, and VSC OFF come back on. I then did the Zero Point Calibration and the lights still come on without a hard code and no CEL. The code that is thrown is a C1336, Zero Point Calibration of the Yaw Rate Sensor Undone.
Does anyone know what’s is going on with the VSC?

I would retry the ZP calibration. Otherwise it sounds like a faulty sensor. Are you reading codes via OBDII or Techstream? Techstream may show you additional shadow codes and narrow the search.

New gas cap.
Disconnect battery then do the ZPC again.
Stretched ABS sensor wire.
Bad skid control ECU.

When doing the ZPC make sure you’re on level ground and seems some people do the final few steps wrong and forget to touch and hold the leads together while turning the key back on.

Thanks for the answers guys. [MENTION=177716]ElZilcho[/MENTION] Redone the ZPC a half a dozen times and I'm reading the codes with the OBDII. [MENTION=89794]BackOff[/MENTION] The gas cap will throw a code and light the CEL.
Nothing changed except I filled up and left the cap loose so I cannot believe it's a stretched cable. The link on the ZPC you sent was for a 5th gen and I have another skid control and a yaw sensor to try. I was hoping it was something easier.

Hey V8Man, what method are you following for the zero point calibration? I just had this problem on my '08 after resetting the ZP while trying to diagnose an ABS problem. I found a lot of different information on which specific pins to jump during the process. Considering your working with an 03', I'm guessing you should follow the TSB BR005-03. Is that what you're following?

My mom had this same thing and a NEW gas cap fixed it, first cheapest thing to try since this started with the gas cap.

Pretty sure the links I did are 4th gen...I try and stay out of the 5th and 3rd gen sections, not sure they like me...LOL.


Do you know if your getting the ZPC to work?
Here is the ZPC method I use.
I use 2, 12" 16awg wire, with a knot on the side I plug in, 3" up. Ends stripped.
Speaker wire was mentioned in that link.

On my 2004 SR5 V6 it is TS=14 and CG=4

Parked flat and level, steering wheel straight.

1. Ensure the shift lever is in Park.

2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

3. Using SST 09843–18040 (paper clip), repeat a cycle of short and open between terminals Ts and CG of DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.
Verify that the VSC indicator light is lit indicating the recorded zero point is erased.

4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

5. Be sure the terminals Ts and CG of DLC3 are disconnected.

6. Turn the ignition switch ON.

7. Check that the VSC warning light goes off about 15 seconds after the ignition switch is turned ON.

8. After ensuring that the VSC warning light remains OFF for 2 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

9. Connect the terminal Ts and CG of DLC3 using SST 09843–18040.

10. Turn the ignition switch ON.

11. After turning the ignition switch ON, check that the VSC warning light is lit for about 4 seconds and then starts quick blinking at 0.13 second intervals.

12. After ensuring the blinking of the VSC warning light for 2 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

13. Remove the SST from terminals Ts and CG of DLC3.

Drive the vehicle to confirm there are no re–occurring lights or DTCs.

Hey [MENTION=91185]V8Man[/MENTION] did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the exact same issue on my 04 Limited V8 and have already replaced the Gas Cap. You're the only other person that I've found that has the same issue as I am but I didn't see a resolution.

One thing I have noticed, every time I plug in obd scanner my VSC lights come on, to get rid of I have to do the zero point calibration every time, then the lights go off. I have tried using two different quality code readers with same results. For some reason the code readers always trigger the VSC, not sure why.
