My 04 v8 is full-time 4wd, if your 05 is a v8 as well I'd say you are outta luck for 2wd.

He says he can put it in 2WD mode so he must have the V6.

Ah yes, so it does say that, I just learned how to read last week. Don't know about the V6, but I am pretty sure I can turn off the traction control in my V8. My button is left and down from the streering wheel.

If your 4Runner is 4WD, then there is no button to turn the traction control off. The only way to do this is to switch to 4LO and lock the center differential. If yours is 2WD, then you just hit the trac off button.

DINO, I am not familar with the 2WD setting, but would you be able to lock the center differential in 2WD? That would disable the traction control. I don't know if that would work though so don't take my word for it!!

I'll have to take your word for it. But I really thought there was an on/off button for traction control in mine. Will have to check again when I get back to my baby (am away for the holidays). I am so hoping you are mistaken, cause mine is full-time 4WD.
